G'day members I wanted to ask a question of where the steering bump stops are located on L34 compared to the standard v8 SLR ones that don't have them, I'm looking and are they located on the lower wish bone? not on the K fame area? Thanks for any help in advance.

EDIT:

Oh shit, sorry that picture was A9X, not sure if L34 was the same or not?

Here is an A9X picture of crossmember lower & higher control arm and how are these different from standard v8 LH/LX we're are the bump stop steering here, that' help the HQ stud pattern and steering from rubbing? I realise stud pattern would be different but cannot work out the 14 inch L34 is different from v8 LHLX to prevent the camber or steering? I'm lost

I'm lost too.
Both L34 and A9X have the chunky suspension bump stop but L34 doesn't have the little steering stop on the lower controlarm.

I'd say that A9X steering stop was an early implementation of a UC feature that followed six months later?

The L34 ran PBR cast iron brakes that required the top control arms to have eyebrow trims for clearance. The calipers sat higher than A9X alloy Girlocks which had to have special reliefs cast into them to miss the tie rod and steering arm, and being wider and bigger than the PBR caliper, needed an extra bump stop on the lower control arm to prevent pad knock off. The A9X and L34 both had the same lower mount steering arms with the little triangle steering lock cast into them, wish the Harrop copies had this feature.

I'd say that A9X steering stop was an early implementation of a UC feature that followed six months later?

I've had some UC front ends apart recently and noticed the steering stops on the lower arms.

Could someone please explain what their function was? Why were they necessary on the UC but not the LH and LX models?EDI

Edit: And do I need to worry about running UC steering arms and LX lower arms? I'll be running a front brake kit which doesn't have any reports of clearance issues on standard LH's and stuff.

Thank you so much who's has replied and thoroughly helped! I didn't know what to look for or where to look, I found what I thought was a bump stop and after googling found it, with no help from uncle festa who just wanted my vin number engine number and L34 heads date code! Very strange thanks for your info much appreciated. Regards Rick

With so little documentation on the L34 from GMH, a couple of members are trying to compile a list of cars that are left. Nobody knows more about this model than Unclefesta or outer control, and with the amount of fakes that have been seen on the market over the years they are just trying to look after the guys who own the real deal.

Good luck to you rick,..

Your approach to me for information sent the usual alarm bells,..but without knowing you i accepted your phone call and asked you to verified your car to me as i keep my own personal records for L34s and have done so for over 35 years,..it doesn't make me king shit either i just help out people who use the front door and not the back door with me and i have to be very cautious on who i give out information to,..over the years the standard reply when i ask where the car came from it always seems to be Perth,.no big deal,..but having been burnt in the past for giving out information to people on the phone and especially from Perth you might have to excuse me for being a BIT dubious especially when i don't know the person who is on the other side of the phone call,..never the less i will always ask the same standard questions,.like your engine number, date cast numbers, colour of the car etc,..  i will always ask you to send me pictures before i send you pictures of what you require,.your choice for getting the information you require,..i can also understand from your end about giving out that information,..like i told you its game of TRUST,..you won't do yourself any favours by texting back and i quote your words not mine,..''this isn't a game mate.i'm not sure we're you got confused..you ask me to call you then you tell me to send all my card details to you so you can have on file ..fukn weird Cunning Stunts loose my number and thanks for the convo..''..your words..i asked you to call me back as i was at the doctors...its your choice to give out information and to call me,....But you must understand being new to this forum and asking for certain information on such high calibre car to get information you must also give out information,..again your choice....sadly these days i hardly want give out or help people unless its in person as most know these days you mention the word TORANA and dollar signs pop up everywhere..this forum has helped a lot of people in the past and will so in the future ...

anyway good luck with your research rick as i don't it take personally..

Hmmm, going to be expensive to bring it back to L34, would need tags and verification to make it worthwhile!

I asked a question on this site out of curiousity there was nothing to hide, so the paranoia can stay out of it, you then Uncle Festa inboxed me and ask you to call you not the other way around to clear up your confusion, then when I rang you were at docs and said you would call back! I you asked me lots of questions I gave you numbers basic ones, leaving several last digits out, as I do not know you but when I asked a question quite simple as to what bump steer looks like you couldn't help me out. I just thought it was off that you wanted all my cars vin, engine number, Heads ,Year, a nose hair and you couldn't just help me out with a clear valid question on a forum that wasn't hidden! Any way end of story I no who not to ask next time and same goes mate. As I said end of convo loose my number don't call me
