so i found these on ebay,

p.jpg

http://www.ebay.com....872.m2749.l2649

and as best i can tell

are an open circuit GROUND connection..

till water temp reaches (185 f) 85 Celsius, then "closes"

and

"opens"/ turns off when temp falls back down to (175 F) 80 C

so i was ASSUMING i could run a constant active to fan,

and the ground directly from the temperature "switch" (sensor)

nice and easy process and would work perfectly, i think.

and for just $5 too.

-----------

so then why all this setup/hassle KITS??

anyone know the pros and cons of either choice?

thoughts would be much appreciated

(i think the nut would match a 253/308 manifold bung hole. think are 1/2 inch, which is what the adapter sold with switch is. same thread? not sure.

for $5 can find out easy enough)

Those gammon little temp switches cannot handle the current of a thermatic fan. So the gammon little switch is used to supply a GND for the relay. And the relay handles all the current.

Are you sure you want to run such a low temp sensor. 85deg C is not much above running temp if you are using a 180 deg F thermostat.

Sounds good Matt. Mine is around 91 deg C on and 84 deg C off and works nicely. Any lower shut off temp and it may not shut off on a really hot day
