Hi guys.i want to drain oil out of my 138
which has done 110 thou miles..

What kind of olive oil should i use.. 15/50 ?

Was going to give her a detox but thought it
might do more damage than good cleaning
her right out..

Cheers maz

Realistically

It doesn't have to be fancy

Valvoline XLD would be fine

And streets ahead of the oil that it left the factory with.

Which one Datto.theres a few to choose..
Classic, premium both 20/50 or the 15/40

Just looking in the autobarn catalogue
they have a castrol gtx 15/50 for high
milage vehicles.Would this work just as
good as the valvoline.

I think you'll find that 15/50 will be a bit light unless it's a fresh engine, I generally use a 20/50 if the engine has been around the block a few times.

Yeah, totally agree. I use 20W50 SN in all my early cars.

Hi Maz, For the smidgen of $ personally I'd at least put some nulon oil in it. & if you decide to use an engine flush, liquimoly in the grey tin i believe you can't go past. They also do a 20w 50 in full synthetic I'm pretty sure & it should be available through your autobarn ect or even some Fuchs. If your saw inside my engine after 294,000 klms regularly serviced you'd be convinced, but I'm just offering you all my thoughts. Gary.

Thats the one i have grumps as in engine
flush but im abit hesitant to use it..

I ended up getting the valvoline xld but not
sn as went to only couple stores repco and
supercheap,clean forgotten about autobarn.
The only 20/50 in those store were gulf
wester nand castrol gtx but no sn.

Hi Maz, all liquimoly products are brilliant, just let it idle for around 15 minutes & it should be fine. Don't drive it with it in unless the engine is really gummed up. You'll probably be surprised at the crap that comes out in the oil, it will most probably be black like a diesel oil. I've found autobarn stock the liquimoly oils in bigger quantity, super cheap are the cheapest for smaller bottles of it & are the cheapest for the nulon, repco have it on sale around every 3rd week. & nulon gearbox oils ect seem to be much easier to get online atm. & Bursons seem to be the main stockist of Fuchs oils, Gary.

I'd guess the other guys might suggest that you use a ultrasonic cleaner for the pushrod cleaning, or even some light gauge .6 ect mig wire & a cleaner. I presume that you are reusing the pushrods ? Don't be surprised if the lifters are gummed in & difficult to remove though. Ask about what the other guys use for a lube on the base of the new lifters, i would have soaked them in a bag of 30 weight oil and lubed the bottoms with some molybdenum disulfide (moly grease) but there may be a better idea around. Gary.
