Can someone explain or even post a few pics of the correct way to rout the cable for the heater box?

Got the cable working now.
Have another question or two.
I understand there should be a star lock washer that holds the cable end to the mechenisim, ive lost this. Anyone got an alternative?
2nd sealing the hole in the engine bay the cable went in?
