Hi all,

I have had no luck finding a supplier of the T5 speedo gear drive, in order to change number of teeth (speedo was near perfect with a 2:75 but have changed to a 3:00 ratio). I have Googled and searched but other than a couple of second hand units, is it as simple as walking into a Holden Dealer?

I have noticed in most cases when I search, the helical gear is cut in the opposite angle, if that makes sense (sorry, I'm having difficulty uploading an image).

Try Mal Wood in Warwick, Qld. I got a couple of T5 speedo gears for my T5 there.

I was looking high and low for one for my TKO, then discovered a local Mustang specialist that had brand new ones on the shelf (they are basically a Ford item the way Tremec and Borg Warner built them).

Yes you do have to watch out for the different versions, the teeth run in the opposite direction because they go in from the other side of the trans.

Thanks, that explains a lot, including the fact that the vast majority of T5's must have had the speedo gear entering from the left based on how many of those gears are advertised!

Based on your location (Unzed) I am guessing your supplier isn't local!

Surprisingly the Mustang place is actually local. My TKO has the cable coming in from the left side, if memory serves the right side was more common on some Toploaders, perhaps that will help track something down?
