I am looking for pictures for Colin Bond XU1 that had 2" SUs when he raced at Bathurst in 73?

Have searched the internet and found zip...

Does anyone have any engine bay pics with the 2" SUs?

Magazine articles perhaps...

Thnx

So I am guessing by the numerous responses this may have been a fallacy ?

How so?

Is there speculation that he didn't run 2" su's?

My understanding is that he did, and that the Brock/Chivas car ran Webbers.

This contributed to them running out of fuel because when the gauge stopped working they used Bond's mileage to work out how far they could go but the Webbers used more fuel and the rest is history.

I am chasing pics of those 2" SUs
I would like to know:
What fuel lines he ran
What filters he used
HS8, HD8 ??

To date nothing......

I have had a good dig around and come up with nothing on the computer. You will need to find someone with 1973 issues of Auto Action and Australian Sports Car News and try your luck there.

I did notice however that the Classic Carlectables '73 Brock car is fitted with the SUs.

harry firth refers to the 73 bond car as the SU car in his booklet "torana the great" on page 7 goes on to say he expected it to need one less pit stop. maybe watch the XU1 dvd might be something in there...

giant killers 1974 mag...... page 43

brock was making the pace with his weber carburetted car while Bond was not going as quick, using SU carburettors. but was certainly aimed at finishing the race with only two pit stops

The other thing to try and track down is some pictures on the web somewhere called the Ian Tate collection. Lots of early HDT pics in the pits and workshop. I have seen it before but can't find it now. Might be a closed facebook group or something similar.

Yeah nothing much out there but a few mentions. I am starting to think either Colin Bond himself or Ian Tait may be the only sources of pics / information.

Anybody catching up with Bondy or Ian over the weekend. :-)

I'm sure it is mentioned in the When You're Hot You're Hot DVD.

Don't recall any pictures but I'm pretty sure Brock and Bond discuss that Brock's car had the Webers and Bondy had the SU's.

I'll have to watch it again to see.
