BW diff conversion

Just wanting some advice on what's the best bw diff to use on my hatchy instead of the heavy 9'

vz crewman 3.46 lsd diff would be my choice for a street car these days.

 

It's a beast when compared to smaller b/w diff & generally cheaper at right price.

^ The M86 (V8) version is the bigger one, they had M78 in some as well.

 

Mine is an M75 from an Aussie built R31 Skyline (not Pintara), only marginally wider than factory Torana so no need to narrow it and has 28 spline axles which just need a stud pattern change. Gears and centres can be found in most VN-VT1 (and some later) Commodores which all had M75 diffs as well so easy to get those parts. Then its just changing the mounts on the housing.

I have also heard of people using Commodore M75 housings with two short axles, this means the top brackets can be more centred but moves the pinion/driveshaft off centre.
