I have Adelaide Jan 72 XU-1 that I am restoring and was interested to know should I put the bungs in before it is painted?

If I do then screws would also be painted ?

If you ever take them out the paint will break. Also a good place for rust to occur. I would paint them separately and fit with stainless screws. That's what I did in the boot anyway. Not sure on what is original but I can't imagine the two mating surfaces being unpainted.

I think they're  zinc plated and fitted after car is painted.
