Might sound stupid but Ive looked at a thousand pics and there all different.

 

Which way should the boot sit?

The bottom one. It is only seen in cars without the console. i.e. L34.

Thank you. The retainer plate follows the floor the top way which is what was confusing the situation.

Also appeared in the LH 1.9l 4speed. Spent many a day looking at it.

In my WB the boot has a "F" embossed into it (obviously at the front).  Maybe WB owners need this info. LOL Ron
