Going by the details provided it presents as an 03/77 LX SL/R5000, 4 speed manual, with a 2.78:1 diff, in Mandarin Red with Slate Black trim.

The thing is, the VIN/Body number is around 4 months too early for that chassis number, I would expect to see that body number on an 11/76 car, some cars got held-up on the assembly line (so the story goes) but 4 months is a big delay?

Plus Mandarin Red (1890 / 568-15953) is a 1976 colour, it was replaced by Madeira Red (1928 / 568-30519) in 1977/78.

Also it has the early straight-shaft V8 brake booster, which changed to the bent-shaft type boosters in Dec'76, after 40 years it may well have been changed but that's just another nail in the coffin?

And it's pretty obvious that the tags have been R&R'd at some stage (can't see the VIN tag close enough to tell), but again, a lot can happen over 40 years. There are a number of other things you could check on the car in person, but I would certainly be suspicious if looking at buying this car myself.

The "ZT22755" engine number is a 308 from a 1979 HZ Holden (but not a Statesman). Do you happen to have the cast date off the front of the engine?

And there's a spanner fitted on the inside of the nose cone, just above the battery . I don't thing the factory ever fitted those.

My 6/76 SS had the bent type brake booster shaft
