Have you ever read such a pile of sh1t in your life????

This was in the magazine as well. The whole thing has been contrived just so the "journalist" can get his own car in the public eye. (Probably see it for sale soon)

So no one yet has been able to pick that his faker isn't real???? I knew in about ten seconds and that is without seeing it in the flesh.

Was it the master cylinder and the proportioning valve that gave you a hint?

It does say "A9X Tribute" under the last picture in the article.

Agree however the author is saying this replica is so good that people who have seen the car have not picked that it is a fake.

I think Laurie is saying that he could see it wasn't the real deal long before he read the bit at the end of the story about it being a tribute car.

Cheers

Dave.

1977 Torana A9X Tribute

I actually had an original A9X from new, in primrose yellow. It was a fantastic car, but a bit rough to drive, like all these old things.

It was one of a string of local muscle cars I bought new over time, including Phase III, XU-1 and Blue Meanie. This one is a recent purchase and a tribute car built by someone who really knew what they were doing. A lot of very knowledgable people have seen it, and not one has so far picked it as a tribute without being told.

And why the frock is a "fibreglass front end panel with integral bumper bar" even mentioned? And what instruments did the SL/R 5000 and SS have before the A9X came out? Console deleted? Don't think so.

There are so many better examples of (original) A9Xs that they could have used for the photo shoot. I just don't understand why they would use a Sunbird.

Journalists don't care about the truth, that would require some actual effort being put in to perform some research for the article.

Unfortunately Unique Cars doesn't have the same level of fact reporting as Australian Muscle Cars which is sad as it ruins what could otherwise be a good magazine.

And like most magazines for the masses the adage of don't let the truth get in the ways of a good yarn is always going to be detrimental to the true enthusiasts.

This is part of the reason why I don't buy many car magazines any more, except for the adds.

Yeah maybe the knowledgeable people that had to be told it isn't genuine weren't knowledgeable on Torana's? I like the car but there are so many differences to a genuine A9X that pretty much every photo shows something not genuine. Wheels too wide, fuel tank, engine bay, scoop fasteners and mounting screws, exhaust, it just goes on. Yes it looks good, yes I like it, yes I'd be proud to have it, but no, it's not an A9X just a passing resemblance to one.

It gets dangerous when journalists working for car magazines start doing it. It has always been bad with them putting into print any old bullshit that they are told, but when they start making it up themselves................................
