H there,

My first thought was to not reply to the originators photo, but I owe it too the people involved with this car and those that helped me unravel the details surrounding the origins of both car and the repair itself.

Firstly Im the current owner and proud of it. The person that took the photo on Sunday at Toranafest show and shine did not speak to me or if he did he chose to not use the additional information I would have happily supplied.

The car has had extensive restoration work done not the least of which the radiator support which was very badly damaged has been replaced. The radiator support used is from a 1970 LC donor car, which as we know has the VIN tag is on the passengers side. Had I been given the opportunity I also would have also referenced the the correspondence  I have from the relevant registration body that links the ADR tag chassis number, vin number and color to the 1980 rego label affixed to the passenger vent window. Further to this I believe the other side of VIN tag has been damaged rendering it very difficult to read in its entirety, it its current orientation it is more than readable.

I have no desire to sway your opinions but to merely provide you with a more complete picture.

This is my first and only response I will make to the originator, hope you enjoyed the rest show.

Kind Regards Brian

It is a bit hard to understand what is going on when a picture like that pops up in here. Especially the upside down VIN tag. Makes perfect sense now that it has been explained.

The L is implied.

Of all the numbers/letters/characters to be left off, that is the one that makes the least difference.

Every car has some quirks, the owner is happy with it, not trying to scam anyone by making out it is anything its not, lets move on.

Would love to see some more less controversial pics of the car.
