The UC Hatchback is a great looking car with the right colour, wheels & stance.

I think this one looks stunning

If it was mine:

Injected 5.0L with cast iron VR-VS manifolds, and 180-185kW mods.
Whatever box suits you.
Shortened HQ-WB passenger Salisbury with billet axles to suit the brakes you have (probably A9X copies), sell the UC disc rotors and use HZ/WB ones.
HQ-WB front brakes.
Rally rims in whatever width suits you.

I reckon the UC SLT is the ultimate Torana sleeper. Looks & sounds stock until you put the foot down.

Holden made the UC lighter, handle & steer better than LH-LX models by light years.

People dismiss them as a Claytons Torana or Ugly Car & to the point of ridiculing anyone ever owning a UC.

My first Torana was a UC hatchback which then got me into the V8 LX Toranas. The standard ride & handling was chalk & cheese between the two models.Performance was a separate matter but when the media released the SLT test review, that got my attention.

A lot has been learnt with all the developmental problems regarding the SLT over the years. I'm surprised only one or two have survived intact to this day. Nobody took them seriously because they were a dealer order, problematic, never raced & an expensive alternative to the deleted V8.

I still remember in middle '80, Mike Vine taking me for that first run in his turbo 202 Torana. Fark I was impressed! Unfortunately, I just didn't have enough money to commit at the time. Fulfilling a nostalgia trip, seems tempting. I don't need another V8 Torana but an old school Strata turbocharged six sort of takes my fancy at the moment. Time will tell but I think that's where I'm leaning towards. Ando

An update on Chriskoss's-UC 79 original hatch.. I bought an NGM Strata 2 kit so the decision is been made. SL/T replica / tribute. Looking forward to restoring this car with a couple upgrades & bolt-on performance.

I would be very surprised considering it’s condition if you don’t get over the 20 to 25k mark maybe more

theres one on car sales and he’s asking over 40K
