Hello Ladies & Gents

I was just wondering if anybody had an idea on what a UC SL Hatchback is worth?

Some rough background info on mine for good measure..

1 owner (yes you read that right! my Dad has had it since new)

90,000 original KMS, all matching numbers

Has always been garaged its entire life - barely any rust - just the usual rust on one side only of the join between the roof and hatch

It has been off the road for around 4 years now. I planned to do a full restoration but unfortunately I'm moving cities and cannot keep it at the old mans house :(

I've had a look online but no luck whatsoever to even a ballpark figure of what one would be worth.. I've seen some values for LH/LX's but I think even they're way off.

I know it's all depending on the right buyer, but just thought I could get a start on here.

My baby is locked up within a security complex & garage so any would-be thief's (definitely not any of you real torry enthusiasts) forget it :)

See pic attached

Many thanks

There's one same up here that is in far worse condition than yours.

There are a gaggle of starry eyed A9X wannabees happy to hand over 10 gorillas when he decides to sell.

Easy 10k in Sydney. Wondered what happened to you Chris you disappeared reh. Don't wash it and buy Skap's barnfind kit off eBay. Will double the value.

Looks like a nice original car too, is that an SL/E?

Unfortunately it will likely be hacked up and turned into an LX look-alike by the next owner with the way the market is these days.

Haha it's been a while mate! Hope everythings well. I wish I could but I'm going to become another statistic of taking on a project without finishing it I think..

Thanks everyone for your input. Can always count on you guys for solid feedback!

And no just an SL, 4 speed manual fully original.

Looking at next steps on what to do with it.

Might throw it in the for sale section to see if any of you lovely enthusiasts are interested in changing her into what she deserves to be!

A good clean up is all you need. If there is minimal rust around the C pillars, hatch hinges etc than leave as is.

I've only just stumbled onto this post. I bought Chriskoss-79uc car around August 2019 from a bloke in Brizzy.

He had plans to convert it to an LX & put in an LS etc. Sounds like it passed through couple hands before I got a hold of it.

She's an all original Atlantis Blue (A9H) option SL L20 M20 GV4 with the option V5W Deluxe Pack with books.

I'm more inclined to factory tag restore the old girl with a couple performance improvements.

Cheers

Already looks a truckload better after removing the bogan banner on the rear screen.

Wash the glass, get it sitting nicely on some wide wheels and go driving! :P

She's a bit more worse for wear Heath but in time it'll get the full resto. I went through Ben's build thread 'UC Torana Hatch' & must admit they can look pretty dam hot in stock form with some nice wheels & lowered. The injected motor looks good too. I was never a fan the injected 304 in the LH-LX models. Looked a bit too modern for my liking but n a UC, it seems to work hey..go figure lol

A bit of an update with Chris's old man's car. I been doing some parts gathering while it's sitting there waiting for some attention.

Had so many ideas swimming around in my head. From doing the HDT Brock UC concept to a custom stripped down clean look.

My world doesn't need another A9X tribute so that's out of the equation for me.

These stock UC hatches are getting harder to find so my mind now, is to do a stock exterior & interior restoration but with a bolt in sleeper element to it. Been slowly collecting parts for it over time. The original Salisbury will be retained as Altra9 has developed a 28 spline LSD carrier & axles. Plus I have the UC rear disc brakes to go on. The manual gearbox could likely be a T5.

Still considering engine options at this point but have a few ideas..

1st option is to use the original 202 & prepare it for an SLT Strata turbo. I have access to a complete Normalair Garrett Strata system.

2nd is the triple SU carb induction with a stage 4, 9 port head which I already have.

3rd Holden V8. I've got a VK 308 sitting here or build a 253 screamer using alloy YT commodore cup heads etc. Have the parts as well.

4th I do like Ben's UC injected 304. Looks very neat which I like to be with my builds.

My plan is pretty much sorted except for the power plant choices. Still have time before making a decision there.

Happy to here what other peoples thoughts are. Cheers.

I like the original drive train option but a straight holden six always looks a bit lonely in the engine bay.v8 fills it up nicely and the injected 304 doesn't look out of place. Always thought a Rb nissan 25det neo would look nice in a uc , certainly tick the sleeper box, with skyline 5 speed . End of the day , you do what you like.
