Will  this work on Russet , near new found it on the shelf it's off my old Chev , I have been getting a bit done on Russet it's going better but I'm upgrading the head , and started thinking my coil was getting old and maybe it would not hurt to slip this one on .

Probably more like 95, but still very lol - worthy Gene

New coils are around $40 for a gt40 ect & will look normal in your engine bay nowadays, that's what I'd suggest.

Sadly yes mate, 20 years goes by way to fast ! & if russet is your lc gtr, it needs something nice on it, like an original aluminum looking gmh 1. Gary.

It hasn't been painted or trimmed  since I bought from a wrecking yard , but I like it and can go anywhere in it and it's still fun to drive .

I bought a new coil from Bursons , but when I got it out of the box to fit it I found  , it has written on it , use with electronic ignition , it takes a male coil lead and looks like the old one , can I use it on a points ignition ???

No, you can't use that coil. It will draw too much current & burn the points fairly quickly.

What is its part number ?

Thanks Terry , FT-019 12V , on the coil , and BIC290 and IGC-139 on the box . The first thing I noticed was it looked like it had a few slight marks as though it had had a coil lead cap on it before .

Yep they sold you the wrong part.

Funnilly enough I went into the local Autobarn to buy a new coil for my Luv the other day and they tried to sell me the wrong coil as well, luckilly I caught it in time.

Seems the local parts shop counter lads arnt all they think they are.

The annoying part is when I rang Bursons back , they checked the numbers and told me it would be ok to use , I had to ring Melbourne to get the problem resolved , the new coil will be delivered my the Penrith  manager tomorrow .

Sadly most of those jobs are being offered to people with high sales & kpi backgrounds & not those Qualified in the automotive fields, absolutely ridiculous if you ask me.

Yeah the IGC-139 is to suit electronic ignition, not points ignition.

For a normal Torana ballast style points ignition system, you will need an IGC-300 or IGC-257.
