Only posted here cos I couldn't find the "would you buy a Kia" thread and this is the most recent of aus V8 replacement threads. Just asking if anyone knows what this car might be?

Probably the new Formula 5000. It certainly won't be related to any road cars going on sale here.

Bit out of reach of the average man though. At least any old hill billy yobbo could waltz down to the Holden dealership and pick up a V8 Commodore. Or are they only available in an SS these days?

V8 commodore has only been available from ss up since the vz Brad.

No Holden man i know would rush out and buy a Mustang and only a 5 litre pppfftt

If you want a V8 & only have 60k max it's a good option, I'd buy 1, what would you prefer a Kia ect. Someone will make a turbo kit for the 5 litre probably. 1 of my friends is a Aussie ford guy & said he'd buy a commodore next if it was still made here & rear wheel drive because he couldn't get a falcon, imo gmh should shut the doors totally in 2 weeks, the next fwd commodore will be a huge flop & i think it's all over for the general by 2020. 90k is steep for a camaro.

It's steep for a camaro, but you need to look at their positioning.

They aren't aiming to get all the ss commodore drivers into them, they are looking to get your GTS and hsv drivers/owners.

The ones already paying that sort of money for commodores with fancy upgrades.

They don't have the capacity to service a market the size of the V8 commodore buyers with Camaro sales as they are hand converting each vehicle.

That said, it's a toe in the water move to see what public reaction is like. If dealers get the enquiry level, it could justify the tooling to bring a RHD variant to market.
