I have pedder springs, koni shocks in a lx hatch..

when i lift the car the rear springs have about 2 inch gap from the rubber at the top.

my question is what have people done to maybe fix this???

ive thought can i pull the koni's apart and add a 2" spacer inside them to stop them dropping so far????

put a cable in to somewhere to stop the diff dropping past a curtain distance???

ive never noticed this driving around etc, but now i have the hoist it has come to my attention i need to fix this.

let me know what u think.

cheers

Normally you would buy a shorter shock so this doesn't happen.

As for pulling them apart, I can't see why you couldn't if you're that way inclined, I know the fronts come apart easily, but think with the rears you will have to cut a bit off the outer top tube/cover, to be able to get to the screwed in cap that holds it together.

Scrap the Hatch and buy an LC or LJ, the rear springs are bolted in and can't fall out.  :stirpot:

hmm interesting concept,

bolt some plates in the centre of the springs, then the springs could hold it from dropping,

I'm sure this has been cover before,       I think the fix was to fit shorter shocks,  from a HK - HG,

With Pedder's springs , I think they should have shocks to suit.

They can't drop out with weight on them, plus the shock will stop them from the diff dropping too much. Only can rattle arround when going over a spoon drain or a large hump.

We have to have captive springs to get a car legally on the road in NZ. Shorter shocks is easiest and what I did. Old 80's today Commodore wagon length I think from memory.
