Hi,

I have a couple of questions on the LJ XU1 muffler mounting arrangement back to the body. I have done a number of searches online and through this forum and found plenty of pictures on the hanger assemblies and reproduction exhaust systems but not a lot on the actual brackets that are permanently attached to the body. A snip from the LJ parts catalogue is attached below for reference ...

  • Does any one have any actual pictures they could share of the arrangement?
  • Were these spot welded or stick welded to the rail?
  • Are these brackets common (in design, spacing, position) to the entire LC / LJ series regarless of the body being an S, SL, GTR or XU1?

Lastly, I am looking at replacing the Intermediate (connecting) pipe and muffler on my car. Has anyone tried the PEC system that is currently on Ebay?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Regards,

Brent

Hi Brent

I have my car back now and have taken a number of photos of the bracketry in question. I will scale them down and send them to your email if that is okay.

The parts that you have marked with the red arrow are common to all cars according to the parts catalogue.

I will wait for your go ahead. I don't want to bore people with them here.

Cheers

I'm just about to get the whole merrick system fitted
Will let you know
I did notice the merrick bracket that clamps around the chrome tip
Was a fair bit different to an original

Paul, I disagree, and so suggest that maybe your 'original', isn't!

The 'Merrick system' will fit fine as all the prototype pipes were test fitted to my car!

The problem is, the factory that did the manufacturing has closed down as a result of the car factory closures, and Brad is fast running out of stock, if he hasn't already.

Brads system and brackets are exact and fit fine. The system that fits to the dual header system make sure you have the Gen XU1 headers and not the non gen earlier headers
Cheers
