I have been reading many posts on this forum over the years relating to engine numbers, mainly the 186 and 202 replacement engines. Relating to the current engine number listings on the WWW.

1. What internet version is seen to be the authority on Holden engine numbers?
2. Are there processes are in place to update / amend this list?
3. Who makes this final decision?

Failing an update (assuming it can’t be updated for some reason) does a new or amended list need to be created?

AFAIK there is no definitive engine no. prefix list on the WWW. Like most things on the web, most lists out there are full of errors.

The 2 books with the best lists are my '60 Years of Holden' & Warren Turnbull's 'Holden's Black Book'.

Why don't you post your questions here I'm sure we could answer any of them.

186 & 202 prefixes are fairly straightforward, what era we taking ??

1. Dr Terry said there is no definitive list on the net and the ones that are have errors. Read the two books he mentioned for more definitive answers.
2. Why would there be, they are on the www and are unofficial.
3. See number 2
