Hey im putting my car back together and only had a shell to start with so i i have no pedals or brackets. Im up too booster/master stage and my question is are the factory lx auto + acclerator setups universal in other holdens (to source) and will this work with an ls engine setup or should i go new? Thanks Nathan.

Brake pedals are torana specific with the lh and lx to suit booster with straight rod and late lx and uc pedal has the pin lower to suit bent rod booster. You can buy the pins on ebay if you need to mod from 1 type to the other without swapping pedals. Drilling and welding involved.

Accelerator pedal are torana specific also with different pedal for 6 or v8.

How is the accelerator pedal different between 6 or 8 ???

I thought it was only the length ....v8 being longer

Just had a look at my LX parts manual and it lists accelerator pedal as same for all.  PN 2815916. Different bracketry between manual and auto to allow for detent actuating switch.  Can't comment on other models.  Cheers Ron

The pivot point on the 6 cylinder pedal is in a different place so it has a different pedal lever ratio and cable travel. The floor bracket on the car has 2 locating spots. 1 for 6. 1 for v8. This allows the actual pedal to stay in same place under your foot and still lines up with the square hole in the firewall for the cable outer.

^ yes, just had a further look at the parts catalogue and lists different levers/pivot for 6 & 8cyl.  I presume that also corresponds with the different holes in the bracket that the lever bolts to? Cheers Ron

Hi Toranamat69.  Are you able to do a quick measure of the distance from the top of the lever to the pivot point of the V8 pedal.  I'm starting to wonder if I have a 6cyl one at present.  Cheers Ron

I was doing the same not long ago, I first started with the upper hole in the floor and I had slack in the cable, once I moved it to the lower one all the slack was gone. That was for a v8.

The v8 pedal is 182mm from the top to the centre of the pivot.  This is 22 mm different to the 6 pedal as close as I can measure..

Going by the above pic by Toranamat69 is there a differance between 6 cylinder and V8 pedals or is it just the upper and lower position on the floor bracket ???

Yes i know the V8 cable is longer than the 6 cylinder one

And what do people do when converting from 6 to V8

Thanks Kevin
