Picked up 1 of these speaker mounting boards from ebay, https://rover.ebay.c...tm/182326711356 , & the front is a bit short from being able to attach to the dash under the glove box.
I've spoken to the bloke that makes them & he reckons he sells 1 a month without any dramas & that it was copied from an original. Seems like a straight up sort of business.
Am I missing anything here?

Cheers

I've been looking at doing this myself, so interested to see how you go.
Here's a few pictures I have.

I have a tab that looks to be located where bolt A is indicated.
But only one, located between the glove box and heater control.

I see. That parts book pic is LC, but I'm assuming its the same as LJ. My car has 2 holes in almost the correct spacing, but they're quite small. Not sure if it's just coincidence or not

That's what mine would have looked like as well.

Ive been meaning to make these but i havnt
looked into where i purchase the board from
or how i cut it out and punch speaker hole and
leave small tabs of board to retain the speaker
hole board as factory.can see cutouts for
radio. just missing in couple areas but easy enough to copy.
someone has put a metal strip at front as
holes in board are slagged out

Hi

I did this picture up for someone years ago - it may help. You need two of the small brackets (they are both the same).

Cheers

Cheers Bazza, I knew you would have something!
I made up the bracket easy enough, those little tabs might prove difficult to get right.

I've made up up a few sets of those metal brackets - not too hard as I had an original to copy. This was my first attempt.

Are you using an original style radio & what type of speaker?

I've put a modern basic stereo in my LJ (LOL after i got the AM radio going with 1 speaker up the back & thought STUFF THAT!) & i put 2 wedge speakers on the parcel shelf.

I want to put another speaker up front to help out but don't know if its worth buying the speaker panel or just make my own.

Cheers

Yes Trevor, original style radio with a 15ohm speaker I picked up from ebay. Sounds like shit but thats how they were.
I thought about installing a stealth system but you cant hide decent speakers & still hear them properly. Plus I spent money on replacing the original parcel shelf with 1 that hadn't had speaker holes cut into it...
Cheers

Yeah I'm not interested in cutting any holes for speakers.
That's why I used pioneer wedge ones sitting on the parcel shelf.
I know there ain't much room up under the dash but will have to revisit the idea of putting something in there.
Lol & AM doesn't do it for me anymore!

Cheers

I'm going with a media player where the speaker mounts, with a remote face plate in the glove box.
Gave up on trying to hide speakers and decided to mount them in the parcel tray.
