How can you tell on an lx hatchback if the vin and body tag matches the chassis number.
I know that the vin and body tag match but what about the chassis number.
Vin 8c77lf514392x vin tag
Body 514392m body tag
Chassis alx 002552m. Adr tag and chassis

It's a 2-76 hatch SL L20 so 6 cylinder m20 so 4 speed
I use to know how to work this stuff out but my brain isn't what it use to be.

There's no direct link between the two, but if you've collected enough samples over the years you can tell with a fair degree of certainty.

 

I have a pretty good data set around your car and the details you've provided seem to match the sequence.

 

It's not an exact science of course but if you want further conformation, maybe contact HHS...

I know my old SS hatch was a 5th or 6th month 76 and its vin started with 5268xx .
I can't remember when adr 27a came in but this hatch only has adr 27 so thats a bonus.

ADR27A came in with the "BLX" chassis numbers starting 01 July 1976 (although there was some +/- with the cars built around the time)

So should be correct then. I'm not about to pay $90 for a report on an SL hatch.
