Technically, yeah. But mostly used to refer to Hq-Hz in my experience.

H series was used before HQ's even existed

Straight from wikipedia

Note the use of the word "series"  followed by list of vehicles under letters....

Dosent matter what you have heard or whats commonly used, the facts are the facts.

Pages in category "Holden vehicles by series"

The following 20 pages are in this category, out of 20 total. This list may not reflect recent changes (learn more).

I don't mean to argue but anybody who quotes Wikipedia as "fact" is deluding themselves, you do know that ANYONE can create and/or edit a Wikipedia article don't you?

There isn't some think-tank of all-knowing scientists sequestered in an underground bunker somewhere who's sole existence is writing Wikipedia pages, it's just anyone with half a brain and a keyboard!

You are quoting as "fact" the opinion of whoever wrote that Wiki article, my opinion however, differs, but I've only spent four decades in the automotive industry, what would I know?

So what if most people only think of HQ - HZ, fact is fact. HD, HR, HK, HT, HG, HQ, HJ, HX, HZ are all 'H' model series Holden's.

Im not a Moron, I know what wikipedia is,  I also know that overall it is generally close to fact,

But its undeniable that All holden models starting with  H are H series,  what your effectively saying is that a HK holden has no series?  is it just a K holden?  I think not.

Im not arguing that Generally its used from Q to Z, as it is very commonly used to refer to them.  But the term FX is also commonly used but is incorrect, its actually a 48 series

Actually dont Q to Z Vin number only refer to the series by the last letter?  so a HQ is a Q series, etc?  this woul dmean that they are not H series then wouldnt it?

At the End of the day its not an official term, its a term thats used to describe cars,   so no 100% definition can be put on it.  But excluding model also starting with H  in my opinion would be the same as saying V series only applies to commodore from VT onwards  and dosent include VB to VL

If you look at it from a family perspective and work the series from that you come up with something different.

HD HR

HK HT HG

HQ HJ HX HZ WB

These series for want of another term had many interchangeable parts and were based on a common chassis/floorpan

People will call things what they want so no point trying to change it, I was simply trying to answer the original question,

For instance to me a Sunbird is still a Torana,  A UC is still just a torana, Yet there will be many here that wont like that

Now there I was thinking that there were 3 vehicle (floor pans) in vehicle manufacturing.

Large, medium and small with "H" being the larger.

Oh well I think I'll wait for TB or WT to weigh in on this one.

Depends on how it is put into context.

Seeing as this is a Torana forum, using parts from a 'H' series Holden (or HOLDENS for the pedantic :) ) i would instinctively be thinking ..... rotors, stub axles, brake calipers, steering wheel etc.

So if someone wanted to do a 'H' series brake upgrade then that term would be appropriate. Rather than stating HQ/X/J/Z?WB stub axles are needed. Who want's to type all that shit out? Really?

If you determine that there's a series of Holden that includes HQ-HZ without including WB, you really need to fuck that system off and get something better.

I just call them 'Full-Sized Holdens' - "H-Series" doesn't make any sense to me. What the hell does a HD have to do with a HJ?

Almost as stupid as GM continuing their nomenclature of "A-Platform" even after the car became FWD.
