I zinc plated my own stuff,

googled it and made a bath with vinegar and ??? something cant remeber now,  and used zinc anodes from a boat as the sacrificial bit

as long as you have a reasonable power supply its a piece of cake

and its good fun and you can say i did that myself

I used one of the 10 dollar plastic storage tubs to mix it in

epsom salts is what you were thinking.

I set up my own plating bath for less than 80 bucks.

Had my own power supply already.

Does a great job.

Will be setting up a nickel bath soon.

 I guess it Depends

When i did it I didnt have a spare 100 hundred bucks,  it was do it myself or not get it done,  i think the anode cost me 20 bucks and the vinegar etc another 10.

Already had the power supply and tub,

Its also the difference between a cheque book resto, and a hands on resto

apart from chrome plating, every single thing on my car, was done by me and my Mate.

we did all the conversion work all the mecanicals, all the rust repairs, etc etc

To me thats what makes the car special to me,  if i had of just handed over money and had someone else do the work  it wouldnt be the same.

Now before you all jump down my throat, I realise that dosent suit everyone as not every one has the means to do that.

but its what i wanted to do. its how i wanted my car to be. hence the reason i was happy to do my own zinc plating for $100.00 worth of parts. ( bonnet hinges )

End of the day Its up to Baz what he wants to do

Used zinc coaters in radium st with some good results - actually have some stuff there now and they are busy so i wouldn't expect a fast turnaround
