Car Rego, Club Discount!!

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I have had my LX Torana for 12 Years, driving it occasionly.

But I have been re-painting it, doing it up for two years in my garage.

Is there a discount you can get here in Perth from a Club for Car Rego, I don't drive it, as it is going through that stage of re-vitalisation!!

Club rego is available from most clubs affiliated with the CMC (Council of Motoring Clubs).

Generally a vehicle has to be viewed to be checked that it fits 404 specifications (which is basically unmodified). Might be a tad hard to do if it is in bits.

Also remember the key point in that sentence - the car has to be unmodified from original specs. Strokers, 9 inch diffs. holes in bonnets with motor sticking out and pretty much any other modification will prohibit your car being eligible for club rego.

Also each club may add its own rules to the club rego - for example a club might want you to be an actual active member of the club rather than just using them for cheap rego.

PM me if you want more info.

Speak to the ASRF representative in your state.
They have a far more realistic view of the world with respect to "clubbing" and may be able to be your nominated club as they are in Victoria.

modified cars are allowed on club rego in QLD.

well not so much allowed as they are not prohibited.

theres nothing to say a vehicle has to be unmodified to qualify.

Rob, before you take it off full rego, the question I would be asking is, what form of rego do I want when I finish the car.  If so, what needs to be done to achieve that, ie RWC etc or can I maintain that status on club rego.  If the answer is that you will have to go through the whole RWC/Vicroads (In Victoria) process when it's finished then I don't see any real benefit in keeping it on any form of rego while it is being re-vitalised?  Unless you think it won't pass at that time.  Save the rego costs for parts for the car in the meantime, also bearing in mind Shannons laid up insurance policy is somewhat cheaper than "on road" insurance. Am I missing something?  Cheers Ron

Trust me - club rego in WA = no modifications. NONE. Period. Do you honestly think I would be paying $700 per year on rego if I could get mine on club rego???????????

245/50/14 Tyres will count you out. Holley carb will count you out. Chrome air cleaner will count you out. It is very strict. If it was not available on the vehicle at time of purchase you cannot have it.

Also limited times when you can use it.

We do not have nice limited usage rego like some other states. (Wish we did!)

I am part of the Torry club here in perth - we do club rego. Only a few owners in the club participate in club rego due to the strictness of the rules. And there is no way a club would be able to asses a car for club rego if it is in pieces.

Would love it to be different but hey - we don't make the rules........
