This may sound like a silly question but does the accelerator pedal have a return spring on it to lift the pedal off the floor. I know the plastic part of the pedal assembly has a spring on it but does the main arm, or does it rely on the springs on the carby to bring it off the floor. I.e. Disconnect the throttle cable and pedal would go to the floor. I would have expected there would be a return spring but am unsure as there is none fitted.
Cheers

I guess you could call it a safety feature, if the pedal is up you know the butterflies must be closed, if the pedal had its own return spring you potentially wouldn't know until you start the engine (although I have no idea how the throttle would get stuck open while the car wasn't running)? :<_<:

Plus, if GMH could save 20c per car on an unnecessary spring you can bet your ass they would!

Cheers for the replies. I pulled the car apart about 6 years ago and couldn't remember if it had one or not.
