Read carefully as these changes took effect 14/12/2017.

If your modified vehicle is registered in NSW (and has the old ECS engineering certificate) dont let your car run out of rego because the RMS wont re-register it unless it is re-engineered to VSCCS.

Another small creep in rules for the authorities...efffects very few, so not many give a toss......but those  effected are impacted on big time should they let rego lapse?

If your are in a NSW car club and have your modified car on the Historic Classic Vehicle Scheme (CVS) number plate you will have a problem if you want to sell it (if it was engineered under the old scheme). The car cant be sold with club plates which means the new owner will have to have the car re-engineered under VSCCS before it can be re-registered.

Absolutely!

Either a vehicle is fit to be on the road or it's not, why are currently registered vehicles okay to stay registered if their certificate is no good?

It's just another example of bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy, more paperwork means public servants can justify their jobs, and screw Joe Public who has the headache of re-engineering something that already passed inspection once.

I bet there's no waiver / subsidising of the engineering fees either?

I believe these changes are due to the fact that too many bodgey engineers allowed anything through and they are now stamping it out and making all engineers re-apply into the new scheme. This way they can reject the ones they know are no good.

What a pack of arsehats!!!

They allowed it decades ago then took it away only to let previously 'engineered' cars back on roads due to 'grandfather clause' so now take it away again.

So basically if you had engineer code on your rego papers RMS had no idea what actual mods were engineered unless you showed them your report 'cos they tossed out their copies instead of digitalising them whem RMS took over from RTA.

This will affect the value of certain modified cars greatly if rego is let go.

Shouldn't impact cvs Cars that are changing hands I wouldn't think as you only need a pink slip, not a blue slip when re-registering after the ownership change.

There'll still be ways.

Still sucks to think will have to keep my sle registered every year than risk getting bitten in the butt by new rules particularly when it just scraped in under old rules & allowed to be re-registered.

Probably will be ways around it like always just felt like finally we all got past this bs

Have a look to see if your engineer is certified under the new scheme.

Then ask for a certificate under the new scheme if possible.

Wouldnt worry too much until you have a look at logical avenues

I know my car wouldn't pass under new scheme due to certain mods & size of the wheels...the grandfather clause is how it got re-registered like other modified cars of the past with 13b rotaries or big blocks, tubs etc

Reasonably sure engineer is retired or deceased as report nearly 15yrs old...was a big part in the decision to buy it when found out these were allowed back on the roads.

The flip-flopping of rules sucks as we are the minority.
