Toranas everywhere!
I thought my yellow one had escaped and made its own way here.

It’s day one, I’ve been out at the Nats for about three hours and I have already seen:

Farmtrucks return to compete start without glory. Stuffed it into the concrete during the burnouts. Twice,!
Bad enough that it required retrieving.

And then catching fire! Good times.
The whine of blowers, LOUD LOUD open pipes and methanol mixed with tyre smoke in the air.
Good times indeed.

It took quite some time to put this out once he stopped. Didn’t slow him down though and I saw him cruising back along the ring road a little while later with a singed and blackened arse.
A special thank you to the likely lads who helped me make it over the spiked wire fence with my dignity semi intact. Getting too old for such shenanigans! Bastard light rail project has mucked up my usual sneaky park and walk to the entrance.
I am always impressed by how polite and helpful everybody is when I visit.
On another pleasing note the new practical car returned an average of 11 L/100 Km on the trip up. Quite acceptable for a heavy beast with the supercharged donk.

And no displacement on demand anymore either. It would certainly be using a lot less than some of the monsters starring at the Summernats.

You don’t have to be crazy to drive something like this but I am sure it helps.

LC 454, the Mark Hayes Torana. Once Australia’s fastest street reg car.
Speaking of registration. If the cars here are any guide, it’s really not that hard to get on the plate schemes in vic OR nsw.

Cheers Doug for the pics. Farmtrucks car doesn't look like their one from the U.S to me. I bet that's a replica that's been pieced together here.

Yes Wayne, it’s a local build with help from the TAFE I think. They got it straightened out overnight and yesterday arvo was better for them on the burnout pad.
