When I shut the lid it sits a bit proud so not sure if it is the rubber or it is the wrong way around. Thoughts?

The boot is adjusted down and is really tight to close. Maybe I'll just have to live with it.

HI
Check out this Rare Spares video on YouTube. While it is not LC/LJ specific, it does mention that all fully clipped boot seals have the same installation method. Just looking at it quickly, it appears that you may have yours installed incorrectly.
Cheers

The rubber is one of the older ones and it has been sitting on the boot lid for a while now and any instructions are long gone. I am leaning towards it is on wrong but before I change I around, if you could post a pic of what yours looks like, it would help a bunch.
Thanks

Hi mate, basically the boot should be adjusted down to a point were when you turn the key it should pop just out of the striker not fly up fast. Pretty much that's how I set them, if it has a spoiler, then fit it, to allow for the difference in weight. I think they are directional by memory.

Paul, you have installed the rubber correctly. Another forum member had pretty much the exact same problem. Unfortunately most of the pics are gone. http://www.gmh-toran...ght-way-around/
This is the Youtube vid of Edan after reftitting Steve's boot seal

If the rubber magic doesn't improve the situation over time then perhaps it may be best to acquire the latest incarnation of the LC/LJ boot seal.

Hi Paul,
I knoticed on your boot seal, its rounded on the side, towards your boot hinge.
maybe thats what they look like when they are new.Just open and close it,a few,
more times till it settles in with age.
I just had a look at mine, its flat all the way round with age,its 45 years old my boot
rubber, still in very good condition for its age no cracks and it doesn't leak.
Regards John.

On that, does anyone know how much I should spray on? Is it like WD40 on a rusty bolt and soak it so it drips off or, is it just coat it so it has a bit of sheen coverage? I did the later

So, I jumped in the boot and closed it only to find more than a few gaps that shouldn’t be there and some tight ones too.
After a bit of physical persuasion the boot sits a lot better but still not 100% I will need to give it more love over the next few days .
All these little things I am finding that I rushed when I begun this project nearly 20 years ago that are now haunting me while I try and put it all back together.
