Still got a few bits going on.Been doing some work on the front end for a while. Engine and gearbox have been bought and was able to get a HR code 253 although dated earlier than the car.

Biggest problem at the moment is trying to find a clean rear floor pan on the drivers side. The rest is good. Has anyone got one to sell?

Also is there anyone out there with the plenum? Specifically where the air duct bolts on?

Thanks

Thanks rod oo. That would do the job. Someone beat me to it though. I will try and contact the seller to see if they are doing anymore.

Thanks to Rodomo for steering me right on the plenum section.

Still looking for a clean rear floor pan drivers side? LH/lx sedan?

Any one making them? Rare spares only make front ones for the lh/lx.

Thanks

Been a while.

Rear floor and plenum done with some professional help.

Looking straight and clean now.

Off for the original Atlantis Blue to make it shiny again.

K frame in bits and now powder coated. What springs and shocks worked well for everyone?

Going for slightly lowered, standard guards not rolled. Using original Torana pattern studs. Haven’t decided on a rim size yet but will be limited by the stock guards.

looking at kings? Any advice or recommendations

I'm running kings 50mm low all round and I am pretty happy with them. I have kyb standard shocks in the front which are ok. Nothing special. I originally had kyb in the rear but now Monroe. One piece of advice don't buy springs and shocks as a kit unless the seller knows to sell you the correct stroke shock to suit a lowered spring. I got caught out on roadworthy day with a standard travel rear shock and lowered springs. When up on the hoist the springs came loose in there housings because the shock dropped too far. Failed roadworthy. Probably would never be a problem under normal driving conditions but because it was roadworthy I had to rectify it. I ended up finding a shock with the correct travel which was a Monroe gt I think from memory. Made a big difference to the stiffness of the rear end too and if I had my time again I would probably go Monroe all round for a standard type setup.

Thanks for that. Really is a great help. I will make sure that whatever springs and shockers I get will match.

thinking about rims and tyres I will most likely try to go 15’s and I am thinking that will mean standard height for me.

I appreciate your advice Toryman

Painting is going nicely. Time to think about the other bits. Better start looking at what rare spares have and joining the masses trying to get bits on line.

Part of the fun?

Next fun is sorting through the old wiring loom to see what is ok and what goes where.

Using the wiring diagrams to trace and test.

Seems in reasonable order to an untrained eye????

Got a while yet before it goes in but great stay at home project

Not quite finished. A few more years should about do it.

Painting came to a big stop with Covid. Latest is the guy painting it has been quite ill for a few months. I have been to visit him and he is genuinely crook. Car was coming along nicely. I know him fairly well and am happy to wait until he is back on deck.

In the meantime the front end is complete and looks great. Motor is going to an engine builder next week.

Like most projects it is all slowly slowly and $$.

Sounds like you've kept things going as best as possible with the challenges of last year. I had hard enough time rebuilding my diff let alone a whole car during covid.

Getting some things done. Car is painted and doors are on and aligned. Still a bit more to go on the paint.

Diff and Trimatic are due back next week. Getting some parts together.

Missing Trimatic shifter and K frame outrigger bolts and probably a million other bits that I will learn about as I go.

All good fun.

Colour is Atlantis blue. Which is the original paint code for this car. Its as close as we could get it. Still needs some cutting but so far its come up very nice. Rare spares rubber kit is very good so far.

On the hunt for

trimatic shifter

k frame bolts

V8 banjo yoke

and probably everything else I dont know about yet.

Seats are booked to be trimmed in Jan 22.

How did you go lining up the k frame? Much easier (in my opinion) doing it like this without motor and box.

Is it an LX K frame? I thought it was only LH's that didn't get the cover over the steering shaft coupling.
