No.2 Bit the bullet!!!!

Typical overkill with minitubs,coilovers,b/w 3.9 lsd & rear discs rolling on 18x8 granges with sticky s03 tyres...once got settings right it hooked up hard but diff joint screwed up diff width(too wide) & tyre rubbed same spot as yours when it squatted under power...could take 265/50 or maybe scrape 255/60 with stock wheel arcg

You'd get same result with narrowed diff, adjustable top arms & minor metalwork to inner wheelwells & it'd still look standard.

When does it end with cars. We can never be happy with them.
Idealy i would shorten then diff 10,15mm and i should be be able to fit them on the wheels i have now.
Im having a bit of a hard time understanding wheel offset with a 7inch rim. According to this the wheel will move inwards 12mm but how much will the tyre move.
Is rim width measures from the tyre sealing area or overall width? I think i might have 7inch rims now because i measured from the overall width. in.b90889ad9dbef95b418e81791ba0040c.jpg

Best way is place wheels in tub at ride height you want then measure distance between wheel flanges...that's called BUF Bolt up face measurement..that's why in pics you'll see cars with 2 wheels & long bar through centres then up to diff joint to allow for brakes etc.

Reason being is tyre sidewall is actually widest part...brand specs will tell you what sidewall widths are on certain rims.

From what I gather 15x7 with 3.5 BS means split it in half...3.5" rim sits behind wheel flange 3.5" in front.

15x8 3.5" BS is same except 4.5" of dish

One of peeps can correct me if wrong.

Even if you sneak it in a few mm it’s still likely to foul unless you keep it jacked up.

The ET streets are a big shouldered tyre!

The yellow car has little tubs, done by splitting the originals and adding a little. It’s enough to easily swallow 235/60/15 ETs on 8 inch Draglites. Can get the car much lower once it’s this far inside the outer guard.

Or go nuts! Tubbed to the rail and will take a 275/50/15 ET with a little massaging of the lower rear lip.

275 50 15 would be awesome dont think there will be traction issues there. Im am reconsidering about getting diff narrowed. Got the hammer out yesterday and gave the inner guard a little tap and managed to gain 30mm, I am not sure about the seat belt bolt however, what do people do there?

I'd rather 255/60 as their 27" vs 26" in height..better for traction & generally cheaper street tyres although not seen torrie up close with them on so 235/60 or 275/50 be safer bet..

69 gtr only had centre belt from factory & tubs that big you only want to sit in centre haha...probably fit new reinforcement plate & nut if need be.

Will a 27inch even fit without guard strech? I 26 only just fit as it as.

I dont want to tub it if i can avoid it. Ive just had the seats all retrimmed and rather not spend more on them to fit the tubs.

Dunno you'd have to check tyre spec vs 275/50 as I've never seen lc/j up close with 255/60...probably have to sit bit higher than blue lj above to clear rear arch.

Seat should be fine just bend/trim some of frame if need be...that for cars that have the tub split/widened with filler section.
