Hi All,
I have read a bit about this problem of trying to drill and fit the T O R A N A lettering and trying to source a stencil/ template so I putting it out there.
Does anyone have a template I can borrow happy to pay postage to and from to get it and even a bit extra for helping me out. I’ve been waiting 22 years to finally get this car painted and I’m under pressure to try and get a template so my vision of this car I brought at 18 gets to be how I want in my old age!
My story is that my holes have been welded up back in the day by previous owner and I’m now doing a full resto and would be pumped if I could get them back on there!
If not does any one have a LH nose cone to sell with the holes still in it? Rare I know but what can I do.
Cheers for listening

If you don't have any luck with a template, I'm coming down tomorrow night and I can bring an old nosecone so you can make your own.

Seems like something that this forum should have available?

Easiest way to make a template is with some graph paper, tape it to the nosecone but make sure the horizontal lines are level, then rub a dirty finger over the holes, remove and measure.

Don't forget to also mark some distinguishing feature on the car to line up the template with on the next car, even if it's just a centreline?

If you can't make a template I can do something in CAD, I just need accurate measurements?

Nice work Shiney that sounds like a plan so the old nose cone you have has the original holes drilled in it already? Then I can return the favour and drop it back to you with a carton 👍
Thanks again for the offer feeling pumped now I can get it done.
Just need to exchange details

Cheers for the tip Bigfella just looked at officeworks and $1.20 for A2 graph paper.
I’ll follow the bottom line where the top of the grill sits to get the line.

Maybe get some pics of the badge clips whilst there! RSP might want them as samples to do repros?

This one is a later LH and has the plastic clips. I have also just noticed that it has had a small ding right in the centre and there is a bit of bog in there. The first letter A may have moved slightly from its original position. Time to phone a friend.

Did you end up getting any measurements?

It would be worth posting them here so anyone looking to do this in the future can use them.

G’day Bigfella, I’ll take photos and get as much details as I can as I could only get this done through Shiney being a legend so helping out the others out wanting to do the same is no problem.
Still working on it now but will keep you posted.

Hi Troy, I'm in need of this info for an L34 replica I'm building (saffron too).

If you can share this it would be great as I have an NOS nose cone that needs drilling and id hate to stuff it up.

Cheers

Mick.
