Rares sell these bits: http://www.rarespare...roduct=GSRK1000
There's not much to them to rebuild. The welds are prone to opening up though if it's had a hard life.

Early shifters had one or two round wave washers and the selector pivot shaft is also different.

Where are the shims fitted?

They are not really "shims" so to speak. They are more like spring/wave/thrust washers as Dave has mentioned. They don't really allow any sideways slack adjustment. Sort of a factory, agricultural, one size fits all, side thrust plate.

They are also prone to cracking being made out of spring steal.

Here is a pic of some fitted but is doesn't show all of them fitted.

Thanks for your help. The rare spares shifter repair kit gsrk1000 has a total of 5 thrust washers. The picture above shows only two of them. It's the other three I can't see in the various pictures on google. Is there an exploded view of the shifter anywhere that shows all the thrust washers?

I looked in the parts catalogue today and it only lists it as an assembly.

I'm assuming you haven't looked at yours yet? As I said earlier, there isn't much too them.

If you get stuck, I can take one apart and post pics.

I hope these pics help? As you mentioned, that kit has 2 types of washers.

The shifters I have here only have 2 of the bigger washers fitted.

One shifter has 1 of the smaller washers fitted as well to take up overall play I imagine? Dunno for sure?

Dave has mentioned that early shifters have different parts? Maybe the smaller washers suit earlier shifters?

I have tried to show things to look for including broken washers, broken shifter, wear etc.

Is there a trick to fitting the indent spring when reassembling the shifter?
