Hi Warren

By my exacting count of the "VIN Disc" a number of years ago, there were 1168 LJ XU-1s built in 1973.

I should also point out that I have come across about 4 XU-1s that do not appear on the disc but that could be something as simple as 'input error' on the part of the data operator.

Cheers

Thanks Bazza, I thought some one would have the info and , you do a great job, and share your info as well.
Next question , how close to correct is the count of 2179 LaJ Xu-1s ?
Thanks Warren in Perth.

Hi Warren

This is the results of my count (3 times) and checked page by page (the whole 1660 of them) by another person interstate from me. The whole exercise took a couple of months but I am confident of the results. I would be happy it anyone could prove the results substantially incorrect.

As I mentioned, a small number of cars do not appear on the disc but this may be due to operator error at the time.

It appears that most attempts to establish the number of XU-1 built were derived from the same source ie. The Service Warranty Vehicle Master LIsting Report.

Cheers

That's a fantastic effort Bazza

Could it be assumed that if you've counted the LJ's, then you've also counted the LC's????

And if so, would you be prepared to share that info too? B)

Regards,

1970 LC GTR XU-1 Production = 700

1971 LC GTR XU-1 Production = 700

By simply counting from the " Vin Disc " you will come up with the total of 699 cars for 1970 and a total of 698 cars for 1971. The minimum number required under the C.A.M.S. rules for 1970 was 700, the same number for 1971, 700 cars. You simply only need to find the 3 data input errors.........

A further breakdown of production :

1970 LC GTR XU-1 Production = 700

6/70 = 20

8/70 = 380

9/70, 10/70 = 300

1971 LC GTR XU-1 Production = 700

2/71 = 200

3/71, 4/71 = 200

9/71, 10/71, 11/71 = 300

By counting from the " Vin Disc " you will only find 299 of the 300 CK LC GTR XU-1,s required under the C.A.M.S. rules. H213674 is down as a GTR ( 34203C0 ) not a GTR XU-1 ( 37403C0 ). This is one of the 3 data input errors found within the 1970 & 1971 LC GTR XU-1 range of cars. A simple mistake..........
