I already have a 9" in the hatch from the previous owner who use to drag race her.

I am not interested in the straight line and will only ever go to the odd track day once she's on the road again.

My question you you all - is it worth me spending money on replacing and modifying a lighter diff for track work or will some money spent on a Truetrac and billet axles etc. for the 9" be money better spent??

Cheers.

Leave the 9" there, they are still used extensively in circuit applications, if you want it lighter get a alloy centre, it brings the weight down to a comparable amount with a BW78

Either that or spend the same money on better shocks to better control the weight.

Friend of mine used to build Sports Sedans.

Used 9 inch exclusively.

His other advantage with it was making the car left hand drive, off setting the drive train and using same length axles.

Gave the driver a bit more room.

But thats another story.

9 inch all the way.
Dont bother with truetrac for circuit.
Use a wavetrac or a detroit locker, properly setup eg. Spring tension for locking is key.
If you have deeper pockets use a modena LSD, these are proper competition ramp and plate style.
Alloy carrier approx halves the weight of the centre section, doing this will bring diff weight prob lower than a borg warner.

Id higly recomend full floating hubs if or when money allows(this for any diffs when track use)
