Ensured to flood all the rails etc with the KBS.
Used roughly just over 2L for the 2 coats.
Ended up spraying the bottom, the engine bay, around the windscreen, the dash and the inside of the roof.
We then tinted the Raptor liner.
1st coat took 2 x bottles.
Had enough to spray the roof panels aswell.
2nd coat i only used 1 bottle of Raptor and it did the entire bottom and all the wheel arch areas aswell.
So happy with the textured finish.
It is so much easier to apply!
Its a bit Darker than I thought but I'm as happy as a pig in shit right now.
Hahaaa

Great work Mitch.  That looks awesome.  I'm told that Raptor stuff is hard as. Also good move doing the underside of the roof. Cheers Ron

Hi Mitch,

if I've  got this right, you tinted the Raptor Liner.

If that's right, what colour would it be if you hadn't tinted it?

The finish looks great.

I hope I get a similar look to what you have.

Regards Mando.

Cheers Mando.
I brought the tintable kit.
You have to get a solvent based tint for it which i did from a smash repair shop. Then you can tint it any colour you like.
I posted the colour swatch in a photo above. It was a charcoal ferrari paint tint.
You can just buy a black kit from raptor if you want aswell.
So easy to use mate.
Im stoked with the textured finish as it has hidden alot of small imperfections on the underside as well

Found some more motivation yesterday and Rubbed back the kbs in the engine bay and dash with 220 grit. Ready to spray the epoxy primer.

Just want to echo what LXCHEV said and some of the others. In my opinion, the single diaphragm booster is a better thing than the dual diaphragm. It's the one you want. You'll get a bit better pedal feel with the single diaphragm, and the "V8" dual diaphragm booster provides no functional benefit, just a lighter pedal, which is obviously not helpful for the modern demographic of Torana owners. The V8 one is also kinda ugly, and heavier if you care about those things.
Of course, people often like to stroke their ego by showing off how much they know, and will be happy to annoy you by pointing out that they reckon your car "should" have a V8 booster. Many of these people will also tell you that it is offers a braking performance upgrade, because they're idiots. For these people, you need to have an explanation so that you can confidently tell them to f uck off. I have provided this above, and hope that it's helpful.

Yeah but Heath, this is an internet forum and everyone has an opinion. Does that really make them idiots? I notice other people like stroking their ego by showing off 'how much they know' by recommending a single booster. Why have a booster at all given the usefulness of moments, psi and all that stuff?

Haha the only person I'd claim is an idiot is someone who claims things like a reduction in braking distance from booster choice. I of course am a person who likes to stroke his ego by showing off how much he knows, as you suggest.

I also prefer no booster in my Torana, and other vehicles. As you've pointed out, with appropriate hydraulic ratios and velocity ratios, that works great. But that doesn't constitute good general advice, because it might mean that your daughter, or your wife, etc. won't have a go at driving your Torana, and that obviously might suck.

All true but just remember that stupid people don't know they're stupid. Otherwise, this is a great build and I love how Mitchyboy is doing it in his backyard and impressing his neighbours, and us, with his skills.

Big day again on Saturday.
I did plan to finish the inside painting but only had 1 litre of Raptor left, i ordered more but none in Australia and its a 2 week wait now. Popular gear.
So i decided to pull out all the panels ready for epoxy paint.
Discovered some light surface rust starting on all of the panels. They were in rust blast but have been for a few months now.
Decided to hit all the panels with my burnishing tool with a 180 wheel and sand paper.
Then rust blast again before painting.
Then solvo clean then paint.
What a mission!
Perfect day for it.
Epotech 408 epoxy paint was so easy to spray and I didnt get 1 run.
Almost like it was done by a pro haha
Emphasis on the Almost. Haha
Happy to have it all sealed now.
Hoping my delivery comes this week so i can do the inside floors and all next weekend.f955402c65d923cc6c747986b71a30a8.jpg764cedb46193595ca3de2e77fd7aceb3.jpg90465495d8a6052cd7ef64db7130eb98.jpg5b963a10ab866715f327002dabc2ac2b.jpg2ec2e4daa197ced56b7e79d382deb7fa.jpgcd393435c5410237d44c5bcdff18a07f.jpgfb20dadffa086178e447248fe69de2a9.jpg5ad6d2f1aec2a479ccde4f6b32916f0a.jpgf56fc867006fbaefdb948477c4dc1448.jpg5b1e61672ba585914f60520a400d0cd7.jpg76d121db7d0981e191fde5cfef3491ec.jpg69603ac49fc82e5950ea60384ec16b1e.jpg91f111aaca9444e0dc89a9c7b6dfa510.jpg2f0c88d1bb12c3e25712e10c73cdb06e.jpg11fa1d0897bc081e4dae6b7da5ebc530.jpg3af6bbbbb36f94712eeb1fec4c277626.jpgb4f48f678a240d555c6941ef5ac7efc5.jpg7b1c615c23484f69e274e1f0a7fc346b.jpg9d095ccdab7fab43255cd59c1470aa9e.jpge8df87621468a38785cbb7e32ad79009.jpg

It’s good shit and less toxic than most 2k etch. I hope you had decent filtration and skin cover. You would know if you didn’t as you can’t get rid of the taste on the back of your tongue.

Prepped the car and garage om Thursday night ready to spray the inside on Saturday morning.
Finally got my new 4litres of raptor liner.
Gave it another clean before we sprayed KBS rust sealb822e34fdc8f0c1551e30afc0e36f30f.jpg1de2dfb687188f1a7cddb8533cfba451.jpg62ad9e2ca34d14cd7fb1390ba6f19110.jpg6b8c38d566b73ed7d5754110c31a7a73.jpgdd0319a659f30cd79a67933527a52f75.jpg

2coats of KBS rust seal.
This time I didnt thin it at all. It sprayed so much better, didn't get any runs, plus it dried faster.
After the 2nd coat we waited until touch dry and I seam sealed all the floor joins on the inside.
This Sika 227 works great.5a54a7006a7699d65f8837d019ccc187.jpgebfcf3e63428b8af029ad924934ccf73.jpg819d60a671f69091e8d3f40eaf179a51.jpga89929db4db7e3bf742675a2e4cf0637.jpgb1fb0567e9013dc4c04b2ff045a1ea2a.jpg23ddc038525b4f0249d2481eb236963c.jpgb938234479e27c1bf10ede90ada0c8f0.jpg

After seam sealing I mixed up 2 litres of raptor for the first coat.
Sprayed it at 40 psi
Then I turned up the psi to 60 for the last coat, 1 liter for the last coat.
Love this stuff
Love the floor 95b7cf4ca619ca684ebec8f33cce89ea.jpg29335a29a23516b70cb181b6b8735cc9.jpg07b8c2d891080697a56055a46c927e87.jpg1571e46afd8d0abe563aa0c6ceb88521.jpg

Decided to tape up both windscreens and the engine bay and spray the epoxy primer seeing as though we were smashing out the painting.
Applied 3 coats of epoxy to the roof, engine bay and rear.
Such a good feeling to have most of it all painted now.
Love using my primer gun, massive fan on it and so easy to use.
The fella fixing my brakes is at Bathurst which means they won't be finished by next weekend. So it will be coming down from the spit the week after next

Good stuff Mitch.

Please cover your self up when you spray the Epotec and I hope you’re using an activated carbon filter in the mask. I was told to wear disposable overalls and throw them away at the end of the day. Seriously mate, you don’t want any of that stuff contacting your skin as it will get in to your system. You will probably be tasting it for a couple of days as I was even with full cover and a decent mask.

Excellent progress. Sorry for the lecture but want to see you around to enjoy it.
Cheers,
Clay

All good mate
Cheers for the info
We do have the activated carbon filters in our masks.
Wearing gloves, goggles and all.
I have a fan running in the shed to blow out all the excess from spraying and it was working well.
Couldn't taste anything at all mate.
Cheers

Having paint on is always a thrill .

The next is bolting on something that you don't have to remove .
