A few things been happening on the car.
Not as much as I would like as I've had a few things on the weekends.
Sent my dash away to get restored.
Got my casing back for my gear box to paint, I decided not to paint it aluminium colour just seemed silly to me and expensive to make it look near the same, so I decided to simply wire brush the entire out side of the gearbox casing with Dad which took us hours nearly all day.
Then prepped it and painted 3 x coats of clear engine enamel over it.
So happy with how it turned out plus it only cost me 20 bucks.
Got my short shift kit delivered and brass bush for the gear selector.
Had to order 2 synchro rings which are coming this week, but all in all I've been told the gear box I brought is in great condition inside.
Bell housing etc all ordered too.
Will have a fully reconditioned gearbox ready to go soon.
Finally got my rear brakes back, fully restored, new pins and all anti rattle clips etc. Even the handbrake section was taken apart and completely reconditioned.
So happy with how all the brakes have ended up.
I bolted the front ones on the k frame and its looking sexy.
My rotors for the rears are back from the machine shop as the new ones needed to be altered slightly to make fit.
Hoping to get it down from the rotisserie this coming Saturday weather permitting.
Also kbs paint stripped and wire brushed up all of the scuff plates. There are some extra holes in them which will need to be welded up before I paint them in KBS.
Chipping away 1af953c9a1a5151993adba309b841cd2.jpgb949c0895188f6c6d879ab631160d8b2.jpg2958df5cf14b64c8f08043cfbeb69cdc.jpg96dba9a5aee870f36a61ad44eb439335.jpg47749fefbb6d24fc613d8e56689bb7b5.jpga34eaf44de8b31ddca528c7cba2fd98c.jpg6affb12f2794bfbf10cda682d0135bfc.jpg32d662705dcda9f9fee678deca82ef94.jpg5d7bc6ea62eaeb19f5ab962a0e5b0d41.jpg6d2b12fb5df580c69416d96019d63c04.jpg6d0b4a1fe2afefef40ce5ac38aa7630d.jpg40b6f04e923af8be23d391492935baf2.jpgb86a217bc40b148f8a4752107662d428.jpg9d7c9af5906b76e5bd3880ac0a32d4a3.jpg2eecb5245e3fb523aa02e8429de7c54a.jpgdc2d3d5c436731755c5556c1c6301175.jpg2fde5e1f8edcc7a4a021081575a3d4ad.jpg06138930bc21521f4c3079c729d44650.jpg976f523214243ef8b41a37ca8c28235f.jpg2af7105266f4a808cd21d794a37206d6.jpg9ff3e70546fec76f343310ccd2410eea.jpga98e5cc314d88880ae80c3dd0a64aa26.jpg

Big day on the car yesterday.
Got my rear discs back from the machine shop but unfortunately they didn't fit and I have to send them back. Super annoying seeing as though they have had them for nearly 2 months.
But that wasn't stopping Dad and I from taking her down off the rotisserie,, we just put the old ones back on.
Used my bros engine hoist and it worked really well the way we did it as u can see in the pics.
The rear end went in super easy.
The front was a bit tricky to line up chassis holes without bumping the bushings off, I ended up masking taping the bushings to the car and it went it first go after alot of tries the other way.
Glad its over to be honest haha.
Starting to look like a car again now.
I got wheels again
Now I can start playing with the front fenders and front flares, plus finish around the tailights etc
Selling the rotisserie if anyone is keen going to advertise tonight.

Quick question.
I got some rear spring seats with my super pro kit, which I installed these onto the spring seat on the diff, that is correct yeah?

How are you going to paint it?

Might need your rotisserie again at that stage?

Soooo once it’s all back together how will you paint it?

I assume you will have to dismantle again at which stage the rotisserie will be extremely helpful.

Or are you going for the rat look? Closed door once over? Other?

I don't understand?
It is all in epoxy primer now, pretty much.
The entire bottom and inside is painted/ finished.
All of the panels will be painted off of the car, pretty sure they can paint the roof, door jambs and panels off of the car.
Rotisserie isn't needed anymore.
I can't finish the front with it on the rotisserie, can't attach the fenders and work out the front flares or install the nose cone and play with the front spoiler.
It had to come down, and it ain't going back on haha

Yer I would probably have base coated the shell on the chicken toaster. You’ll get a better result on the roof.

Having said that, I’m loving your progress Mitch boy. You’ll be back masking wheel arches and sills when you paint. Don’t want any overspray on the nice suspension bits. I hate masking off, lazy.

The rotisserie stops you from doing so many things. Cant finish the rear or the front etc.
Planning to build it engine and all in primer then blow apart again for paint.
Would hate to paint it before the engine and all goes in it just seems stupid.
Im not doing the final paint stages, it will be done professionally and i am confident they will be able to get the roof spot on mate its pretty low now haha

I’m sure they know what they are doing and will mask off all the finished parts and get the roof nice. Just what I would do if I was painting but then it is a van on my rotisserie, and it doesn’t really mask any of the outer body.

Finally got to have a play with the car this weekend.
Dad and I blew apart the door hinges.
Paint stripped them, hit them with the wire wheel on a drill to take off all the paint.
Kbs aqua clean then kbs rust blast.
Then I installed the new hinge brass bushings and pin kits I had delivered a few weeks back.
What a mission, makes a huge difference to what they were, no play at all now.
Chuffed with myself
Also re rust blasted the passenger side jamb and kbs rust sealed all the welding patches and the sill.a5faa1fffcba9b62673105a9a59812d6.jpg7551118ed2a2282ed742866be13802c3.jpgd37b7fe7bdd84ec05a6c6163433b44e8.jpg18613005a781c96c1bd844ed35cf133c.jpgbcd15948799a3aafa7e47425480f1000.jpgc4439aabd76c8bc8c571db1635d173bf.jpg799fedd42f69083d358175f5c2f0757e.jpg3024fbb682334b299dcfc830aa564792.jpgd0377168692fbd382928ae14ec7fbf17.jpg

Unfortunately, that SL/R badge is just Chinese junk, like most of the Rares products. Maybe someone nearby has a small CNC machine to make one up?

Removed hinge springs from the bonnet hinges by using the bend the threaded rod method.
Worked awesome.
Prepped and painted up the wiper motor, hinge springs, handbrake assembly and wiper linkages with the same kbs calliper paint system I used on the callipers.0af723cc8bfecd4717a6539243020595.jpgd9c9feed196e77f05f472a4ae76fa0c1.jpgc020446c97e5f24413479b0cbe8a7f8d.jpgbc3370a6f5285b4d290adaab5e058443.jpg1d565fdc82b0bd86d6fb94daf6a632b5.jpgc2be51bbc3004eeacb85866442e8171e.jpg

Massive day on the car today.
Played with the nose cone yesterday arvo, welded up all the old holes from the previous attempt of installing the front spoiler and panel beated etc.
Started to weld up the old flare holes in the fenders aswell.
The passenger side fender had 2 x sets of flare holes on it that needed welding, a patch in the bottom corner and support structure plus patch the antenna hole..
Dad helped me by preparing all the panels with the kbs system and we started painting around 2pm.
2 x coats of KBS rust seal done to back of fenders and nose cone, plus brushed over all welds, kbs rust sealed the pedals, bonnet hinges etc.
Then we epoxy primer the panels and door hinges
What a mission
Plan is to be able to hang the doors and fenders now so we can start playing with the front flares and spoiler!
8pm finish

Been a bit slack with updates.
We have been hard at it though.
So I have repaired the front end weld repairs.
Cut out rust in tail light bucket needed.
Kbs system then epoxy painted both the sills and the front end.
Been panel beating the rear quarters with hammer and dolly and my 5inch shrink disc making progress slowly.
Neighbours love me I reckon haha.

Decided to cut out 2 x patches where the rotisserie was attached on the rear end as I say minor rust.
Glad I did, piece of mind. There was some rust in the chassis rails there around the bumper bolt areas.
