Seats are at the upholsterer.
Fronts finished
Back seat is in the process of being made.
I have prepped and restored all the runners etc ready to go back.
Paint prepped then Painted in epoxy enamel gloss black, rust paint.
Even tested it on 2 x scuff plates and it came out really well.
Door cards getting made too.
I Decided to keep the interior all LX Slr to match the dash i had restored.be305db3d0f868130d26617bcee5d1b0.jpg261b46478cb6429f666e2be668a7791e.jpg4375aa833960fb196ced872095328183.jpg34f557d9a5b2862ec19c4d8b688c6caf.jpg1597993d5d0686715747635419ef4a1d.jpge6fe2b98dc0c2beb716f0f50c233eb41.jpg9ede4a3bb5eb05e66544139c382dc094.jpg168c4bfa4ea80219ca9964cfcdb9a59b.jpg1ebb36505440e12ad2d84576c64ecce2.jpgb7a6194973fab39183562d4751ad1044.jpgf218797b461f5496e6c421f33196a616.jpg32e1cf2e86fa1eaec39fb7244f79038e.jpgdbb9f6b5676694d40f2824b6e00af297.jpg85f5405f85aadfa017c3c7b48125d4fd.jpgfed9504f75447c5d70a41b35165d634e.jpg

I Have 2 x young panel beater /spray painters coming to give me a hand on Saturday.
I plan to have them for a few saturdays in a row now to give the car a push it needs to get the body work started and into paint faster.
They helped aligning all doors and installing bonnet.
They dolly worked the roof and more beating of the quarters doors etc.
Had to burr out nearly every door hinge hole to make the doors move back to line up properly.
The bonnet still needs attention and the front clip needs some die grinder action to make it all sit even.
So fiddly and so much easy with people who have done it all before.
Once all the panels are on and the quarters are done I can paint the boot and finish the primer then we can start the real body work.
Exciting stages.
Looking like a car more and more!!
Gotta get these front flares and boot lid on asap.

Mitch you are creaming it. Hell of an update. Good work on the shrinking and stretching. How do you find the shrinking disc? I was thinking of getting one as I don’t have oxy.
Cheers

Thanks Clay. Im pushing hard at the moment as I have my 1st baby coming in mid June and everyone has told me not much happens when he/she arrives for a little while hahaa.
I've been watching alot of videos on how to use the disc. I only have the 5inch one but I think the 9 inch would be better and heat up quicker.
In saying that its been perfect for the small areas I have been tackling even though I don't know what im doing most of the time.
It heats up fast and when you spray with soapy water it steams.
The young panel beaters were impressed by my works so I must be doing something right mate.
I'd buy the 9inch if I had to again.

thanks Mitch. That is very helpful mate. Would have saved some “bondo” on my ute quarters and guards.

Not sure about all the sanding on bare panels. They aren’t thick enough as it is.

Its been a while since my last update.
I havent been bludging i promise.
I Had my first son n June 12 which all went well. His the best!!
Downside is I just about didn't touch the car for about 8 weeks.
Plus with lock downs and that my 2 young helpers havent come for ages either.
Some photos below of my finalised seats and my bumpers re chromed.
Very happy with how they both turned out.f4eff7a32b53bfebd02a9e3f37159f52.jpg78237c76684f29105855f3917cd7ff1a.jpg1abf7455b83d8c937ca675d42d2546fb.jpg

The finished panel beated quarters came up really good.
I installed the body kit/flare kit and front spoiler using my laser level to ensure it didn't dip at the front, that's my pet hate.
The builder coming out in me haha.
Not happy with the rear door flares
Had to do some cutting and manipulating to make them look good lining up with the rear quarters panel ones. Even tried heating them up.
I have since re fit them and they still need some work. So fiddly.
Painted the boot with 2 x coats of KBS rust seal followed by the 2 x coats of raptor liner.
Same as the back of the fenders.
Seam sealed ontop of kbs then applied raptor.
Same as i did the bottom.
I also tidied up the trans tunnel and the inside of fenders where I had epoxy overspray from shit masking.
Bloody hole in the bonnet hahaa55329c0d98e44c5a8184b234764906e9.jpg82736b2563b420e37b333f8cd5da00cc.jpg265a513ebc8c050afc3f7c41bfb28a9d.jpg32656abb5cfbc6f6118ee8ff51f2ac68.jpgd6c9788c82d8a98beed642af6acbcc3e.jpg8177e7f354ed4efacc7863e7867514fd.jpg5fea84b1c20c4367d2db808b301a7956.jpg61a67baf6a4919db8e01afcfb69f8c49.jpg8baeb564fd5efa514ade74b240bf5938.jpg4a7b5e1de00e287bc91c6cf0256e967f.jpgf2927ba31cc53ad6ce9a95a86db758b8.jpg785e5d178e02fd6e492fbb8952f191af.jpg75fc6a7efd94d19fc9f586aab27bf3b3.jpg9468203f27a953829940bba41ad9ede5.jpg119067d9952a842baba50e89075b62ff.jpgb938b130aca1da82ba5e6116b5f14534.jpgd9c654874d963f74903116d433dec39d.jpg05912c3f2aa67d024f33769b7cf6e320.jpg42d479c6da3466622ff6114058c3b437.jpg701422b4702d4e7c5a9ae06d4bd054a5.jpgf8a3c6930f376ef34b0d150bb29d0f2c.jpgc3504ea11914a37de302b27de8df4598.jpge4f897bddfd1f6c63752a1ce99213b2b.jpg3278a3ec3b632a80c9c7e600a94035d7.jpgbabbab05c2e2c7e56b3acca74c0e4d06.jpgbe9685cada0a96ea9ef3f0cac3195d65.jpg9289db64836431539e2bbfa5b9d307bf.jpg

The same day I painted the boot, the fenders and the beaver panel, I also epoxy primed the rear quarters. Was a great feeling to have the entire car sealed up, no bare steel anywhere.
Winning
I then sanded the entire car down with 120 on an orbital sander in preparation for the body filler works to start.
Mudded the doors and quarters.
Sand, Sand Sand. All hands on deck!
My OCD kicked in and I couldn't leave the original tail light buckets sitting like they were all un even.
Bogged them up and shaped them, they are mickey mouse now!! That was tedious work chasing 1mm hahaa.
The fellas I had helping me havent come back in ages and since then I have fixed all there mistakes and sanded back the crazy way they put bog on my roof and one quarter panel.
I was so pissed off the way they slapped it on the roof.
Took me over 24 hrs to sand in all down flat.
Coming home from work and spending 3 hrs sanding when bub slept.
I went over every panel with my OCD to ensure the bog work was minimal before I re painted.
All panels bog work blocked to 180 grit before I re applied epoxy.
Worked my arse of yesterday to get it all sealed up.
630 - 330pm, cant have my Dad here at the moment cause of lockdown so riding solo.
Gave it all a once over with 180 first up, then blew the car and panels down for an hour, followed by wiping down all panels with thinners to remove all the etch primer I had sprayed on all my burn throughs, then masked and plastic up all windows etc, of course the wind picked up when I pulled the plastic out fml.
Then wiped down all panels with metho, blew it all down again and then tack ragged and blew down again before applying 2 x coats of 408 again
Im buggered

A bits been happening on the car in the background.
I fixed the defects on the bonnet.
Made up some templates and pulled up areas needed, heat shrunk, shrink disc, tap tap tap all the fun stuff.
Took ages.
Then got it all epoxied back upAttached File  20210825_083522.jpg   56.46K   5 downloadsAttached File  20210825_083525.jpg   36.21K   5 downloads9795225e9eba38062354ac7e670dc9cc.jpga06e993ef91cd3b2c7d7cc1ace0af6fe.jpgad07877b8e2045f5f63588f1dcb799ad.jpgb673cd23144ba4ab86b9f114d6c07a6c.jpgd2fc28ba380f9a388ea1090360420370.jpgd646358806a8157007d93191bbb5b170.jpg1d855e0ee830d8a808278f36a07b62fb.jpga163b7025288c19d2310595539325060.jpga329b4e9927b1017060cf96e72a9182a.jpg

I then sanded/blocked it all back again and skim caoted with bog.
Decided to screw the scoop on whilst I blocked back as it stiffens it all up alot.
Worked out great.
Got it all to 180 then reapplied epoxy againcf9739ffe6eb7fd1ace61e93a6dc0e44.jpga24ea011094c82c0444befe5c4117808.jpgfbf9b4833afc91dd721ae24ffe7efa0c.jpgc68423571bb0b750c22d8af9a1b8e6c0.jpg

Blocked the bonnet down nice and smooth to 180.
I got the engine bay all bogged up where needed skim coating.
Im a little OCD I think but it's turned out great.
My wife and I actually got Covid over new years.
It was shit house.
Stopped me from doing alot on the car over the break. She was way worse than me but when she started to come good I would sneak out to the garage with a VB when my boy went down for his arvo nap and guide coat and block sand panels etc all whilst coughing my head off.

I decided to chase every pin hole on the car that I found when I started blocking.
I used dolphin glaze glazing putty and filled them using a razer blade.
OcD kicking in again, unsure if im being too anal but I did it anyways and it took forever.
There was quite a few especially on the roof where old mate did the bog work that took me forever to sand off.
Just about everywhere I applied bog there were hardly any pin holes and everywhere the fellas that were helping applied there was lots
It shits me but hey its all done and its all in 180 and looking the goods
Ready for high fill

I had a big day on Friday.
Weather looked good so I decided to start the high fill under the doors, underside of bonnet and boot and on bob tail and scoop.
Had to sand the underside of bonnet again because I couldn't sand it the best being installed.
Had a bit of a shit time spraying.
It Was my first time spraying urethane.
Doesn't spray as nice or easy as the epoxy.
I decided to mix 1 litre up straight away so that I could just top up the gun and keep spraying.
The second pot started to go off in the gun.
It sprayed a bit rough under the doors, pissed me right off
It was a night mare for about an hour had to
Unsure why? Surely it has more of a pot life than 25mins, it was pretty hot day though.
But it turned out ok in the end after 3 coats
May need some extra sanding in some places.
Im glad I practice undersides first
