Agree with the glass.
Yeah that seems a little too much metal, 1/4 to a 1/3 of that would not be unusual.

That was just some of it.... There was more. Sounds like I have bigger dramas going on.

Way too much metal.  I am starting to think you have wiped a cam lobe.

Did you run the cam in when engine was first started?
Wondering if it may be losing a lobe.

Yes the cam was run in at 2000rpm for 20min never let it idle. OP come up straight away when we ran it in. I've only driven 150km... I'm also starting to think its cam but apart from the tick the motor runs fine pulls strong. I think regardless with this much metal floating around its sounding like I need to pull the motor and start again. I will drop the oil filter and crack it open to see what's inside.

Dead simple to tell with just the rocker cover off, throw a dial indicator on the end of the pushrods and compare the total lift of all the exhaust valves (to each other) and all the inlet valves as you turn the motor over.

You won't get the figure quoted in the cam specs (without a degree wheel) but you should be able to tell if one lobe in particular is gone?

Thanks for all your help guys. My gut tells me something is quickly chewing itself to death (probably cam...) So I've decided to pull the motor... Will keep everyone posted with what we find after a strip and report.
