Looking at an LJ 2 door, appears to have original fluted front guards, original spot welds etc. isn’t showing signs of an XU1 leaning towards GTR, found some old paint under the current red which looks light blue, maybe zodiac blue.
If I get the chassis number (hidden under the Weber’s) can we find out any more about the car?

Unless its a known car... or has something to help identify it... the usual stuff... throttle brackets , spare wheel mounts

But most likely not

Unless your lucky and the original engine is still in it and the number can tell a story

Ok, so the chassis number isn’t recorded on the microfiche? Or is it just a slow process to find it by the chassis number?

Did you take the inspection cover off to see if flutes
are welded in ..pics of the vehicle would help the guys
on here determine what you have..

Cheers

Flutes are factory and guards have never been off

That's correct - no chassis number recorded on the VIN disc. If the car has the original engine number, there is a possibility that identification can be made that way.

Cheers
