i need a little help. its been ages since ive used this website ( the build was put on the backburner .....) im sure ive read a post on converting the lx torana wipers to be able to use them intermittantly, but i cant seem to find it, im using the toggle from a ( i think ) either early commodore or hq - hx holden .......

thanking you in advance ........... mark

I think it's a UC ( SLE )  with the indicator / wiper control on the steering column   -   needs the plugs to suit

The slot in the UC coffee pot is bigger and in a different place to suit the combo-switch too if memory serves, I recall trying to file-out an LX coffee pot to suit, but the combo-switch didn't cover the whole hole left from the LX and it looked a but daggy so we ended up finding and painting a UC coffee pot instead.

I can't remember if the early Commodore coffee pot will fit a Torana column, but if it did, that would give you a hazard lights switch as well?

The intermittent wiper switch is a separate thing altogether, it supplies power to the wiper motor itself so operates independently of the main wiper switch.

I've fitted an aftermarket rotary intermittent switch before and from memory we put it in the hole where the factory wiper switch was (in the dash), but I don't recall what brand as it was a few decades ago now. Then just follow the instructions to wire it up.

I used the UC/commodore column switch assembly and filed out the original LH pot hole to suit so you cant see any gaps behind. I also wired in a VB commodore wiper dwell switch which sits in the centre console with the original commodore knob, decal and light (assembly) wipers work on the original 2 speeds by turning the combo switch. looks like it was factory fitted. When the dwell knob is turned from off the dwell time is set, dwell is adjustable from 1 second to approximatly 20 seconds.

I found these hotrod wiper delay units through eBay. There from the USA.

Incorporates clockwise turn On, variable Intermittent dial, 1st speed, 2nd speed. Also has Push in for washer pump operation.

I adapted the Torana knobs to fit them. Simplest solution for LH LX cars.

thanks Ando ..................... food for thought ........................also another possibility ............. thankyou Axistr ........... thankyou also Bigfella237 .................. i have already the stalk  switch mounted in the coffee pot and still have the original lx coffee pot on the bench, its been that long since i put this build on the backburner ( approx 8 years ) i forgotten what i was doing with the wipers. I thought id read a post where you could use the uc or similar intermittant control box with the either hq -- hx stalk or even early commodore. but thankyou guys for your input ......... i might have to go with one of the above ideas
