Hi all,

I have an SLR Cluster which had a loose part bouncing around inside, opened it up and found the piece below but unsure where it fits, any ideas?

Yep its an integral part of the tacho.

The tacho is useless without it.

Very common for them to come off.

Thanks, Any idea of how it mounts? Doesn't look like there is anywhere on the tacho for it!

You will be very lucky if you manage to refit it.

The wire is very fragile.

You will need to try to get some out of the toroid to make a joint.

Then there will be the problem of cleaning the enamel of the wire before you attempt to solder it.

I tried with 3.

Im trained in this type of stuff.

I didnt succeed.

You can buy the toroid from a VDO distributor in Perth from memory.

It's the choke.

Filters out high frequency "noise", cleans up the signal to the tacho circuit.
