Hi guys,

I have bought a rotessorie to mount my 2 door LC on like the one below and it should be delivered tomorrow.

What's the best way to mount the shell?

Does anyone have any photos of one mounted?

Put the rotisserie together tonight.

xkh7Wn2.jpg

My car hasn't had a bumper on it since I've had it so I just wanted to check that these are the right holes?

The front ones are threaded but there rears aren't.

I'm a bit worried about how they will hold the weight.

I'm thinking I can drill holes in the right position on the rotisserie then as I can't quiet get the cross bar flush with the car, I'd use long slots and put a sleeve over them to fill the gap and make it so I can get them tight.

I bought some 8mm flat bar and slid them in where the
long skinny bunper irons were bolted using the original
Bolts.drilled and used cheapo tap & die set..
As you can see ive strengthened it even more by using
the bonnet latch holes on rad support.make sure the car
is level before bolting the rotisserie to the bar....
Can use a level undernearh sill to get it level..

Inside using plates..used boot latch to help spread
the weight.

That's great! Thanks for sharing the photos madtoranajzedded.

I'll try and copy something similar. It'll be a good way for me to work on my welding skills at the same time.

Cheers

I made my front bracket today.

Nowhere near as nice as yours madtoranajzedded but it is actually my first real attempt at welding.

I used square tube to go inside the frame of the car and it will be bolted to the inside of the brackets for the rotisserie.

It then bolts into the holes for the bonnet latch

It turned out pretty well and I'm happy with it.

Gatti, you're doing a great job with the rotisserie. If it helps, have a look at page 3 of my thread "lc to lj project" in members plans and projects to see how I mounted mine. The main thing to avoid is the boot area near latch/lock "flexing" (bowing inwards) when mounted. Keep us posted with the great work you are doing! cheers paul

Yes i was going to mention that and was hoping for
another guy to show a different way of mounting .mine
never bent inwards only along the top of the rear boot
panel bout 10 inches long.sort of made a an indentation
Downward heard it when i was turning spit and thought
wtf was that.
i dont think it was necessary as long as you use wide
plates to spread the load in area.

Yep, post number two, that's all you need, what's more important is how you support the car if cutting sills or other structural members and gapping of doors.

What would be the minimum ceiling height required for rotate an LJ on a rotisserie? Obviously this varies with different models of rotisserie so a few measurements could be good.

Then I'd need to allow for ground clearance and clearing the actual rotisserie itself and the shells measurement on the diagonal not just the width measurement.

simply mounted to front and rear bumper mount holes.

How was the body on rear when you took the it off?

Did it bend anything?

The box tubing that joins the spit ends together takes
up a tad under 20cm then say allow another 10cm for clearance.that is for this type of rotisserrie i had
mine wound right up so it is easier to rotate it.the
beam in the shed is about 220cm and clears that
comfortably..

no problems, if the mounting brackets are solid they cant go anywhere and so shouldn't the car.

My LC as it sits currently. Highest point on its side about 1990mm. At the front I used original bar irons bolted to the box section but on the rear I put the forks underneath the beaver and used box section between it and the chassis rails bolted down through the tow bar holes. Very sturdy, didn't like the look of only using the rear bumper mounts and boot latch plate.
I have tried to post pics, sorry if they didn't work. It's the first time iv tried since it all turned to shit and I can't see most pics on here anymore anyway.

I used reinforcing plates under the bolt heads in the boot too.

Mate you have put the rotisserie together wrong. The rollers for the upright are on the wrong side.

As the picture above shows I got the car all mounted up.

Just need to remove the diff and front end this weekend and I'll be able to start cleaning it up.
