Hello, can somebody please tell me if I have the correct master cylinder. I just need to know the depth of the hole where the push rod goes into the end of the piston.

The cast cylinder I want to fit has a piston recess hole from the shoulder of the piston to the end is about 38mm.

I know there is a difference between Torana and HT/G and from memory the depth on them (HT/G) are a lot shallower, but I just cannot remember.

Just need to know before i send it away to get it rebuilt so as i dont get the wrong one done.

Can anybody help????

Cheers

steve

All LJ and late LC (probably from HQ introduction) m/cyl has 1/2" dia x 1.5" deep pushrod hole in primary piston.

HK,T,G and LC up to approx 30/06/1971 have the round ended m/cyl with 3/8" dia x 13/16" deep pushrod hole in primary piston.

Yeah, i know 2 early 10/71 ck's with the round top master cylinders, so it must have been very close to the change over time. Gary.

just had this problem my self, sent master away to get sleeved and reco pistons ect
for some reason it was sent to queensland and when it came home it was missing the pistons
i then gave the brake guy 2 square top masters cast dated 75 and 76 to build my re sleeved master
one of the donors had the small depth rear piston in it and it ended up in the one i wanted rebuilt
so i needed a new back piston fitted which i have had done
https://www.ebay.com...353.m1438.l2649
Shallow piston depth is 19.5 mm.... HT/G/K and LC
Deep piston depth is 36.5 mm ......HQ/J/X and LJ/LH
he also said he could drill out depth to 43 mm if needed not sure why
anyone would need it that deep.

the above kit does not have the secondary spring and retainer
so you need to have them if you buy the rebuild kit
