I applaud manufacturing anything in Australia instead of us just putting Australian raw minerals on a ship and us buying back the finished products. Good luck to all those trying to manufacture anything here in Australia.

Made in Australia has been in a death spiral so any attempt to counter that in my mind is a very good thing.

I hope it works.

However, I hope we don't see the deal hinge on some form of Gov. support . Be that hard $$ or some form of  Tax relief......it would just reinforce how stupid we are to close an industry because it couldn't survive without support, only to open a new one under the same circumstances.

Me thinks he has started the ball rolling by playing 1 state against another.

Agreed one would hope lessons have been learnt that keeping the doors open with government support is a recipe for failure.Tax payers imho should never be funding any business that can't survive without public money. That's why as far as any car manufacturing ever having a chance of success in Australia it can never be a mass market product it will have to be a low volume bespoke niche market only product. Australia's cost of business and wages just can't compete with countries that pay a bowl of rice for a weeks work. I laugh when I hear how dare we allow a loosing business to fail and yet those same people don't buy Australian products they buy imports.
