I contacted GMH Customer Care to obtain a Letter of Authenticity for my LH. However, a fire destroyed many records which included the year of my cars manufacture. This news came as a surprise in that records were never placed on microfiche or DB.
Has anyone else applied for a Letter of Authenticity and has been told the same thing.

Is the Holden Historical Society, where people have got information in the past, the same as GMH Customer Care. I thought they were independant but may be wrong. If so, have you tried here and/or have other people with similar build dates tried here and got information. Maybe they have the microfishe you need. Cheers Ron

I've just sent Holden Customer Care an email seeking info on mine and will let you know what comes back, but this won't help John. That's why I thought Holden Historical Society may assist him. Cheers Ron

Thanks for the feed back. I will try the Holden Historical Society. What is interesting is where does HHS get its info from considering GMH lost valuable data.
For me, I have had my car since new but it would be nice to have a document to include on my history records.
Regards, John

If it were me, I would simply email or call them, explain what GMH have said and ask if they may have additional sources of info and take it from there. I think they are genuine Holden people. Cheers Ron

Holden Historical Services will be able to provide you with a production certificate for your Torana as long as you can provide all the info from all 3 tags and pay the required fee.
Contact is via email only on the HHS web site.

Yes, which GMH also did along with the Engine #.
I didn't get that info with the GMH certificate. Maybe less is known of the L34s? Or is it the same as the LJs, where if they didn't go back to the dealer for service work, the details weren't written down.

Hi Rainman,
I got a HHS certificate for my XU1 and that was worth it because I didn't get any paperwork for it when I bought it so it probably depends what info you already have for your car. The certificate does look nice as well.
Cheers,
Liz

Thanks Liz,
It was just to see what info was on the Cert. Don't really need it for confirmation, was just feeling a little left out as most others have one . Would like to know when it started production. It was held up on the line for some reason (normal for production of new style). Think it would be one of the first few handful made. Sent my info to Andrew and he mentioned it had the earliest engine number he was aware of for a LX Hatch. Don't quote me on the LX Hatch but something like that. Could have even been LX, Don't quote me on that. Rainman

Might be worth it then seeing as it’s an early number. My XU1 was held up as well, in “Touch-up” apparently. It was Ben at HHS that I was in contact with.
Cheers,
Liz
