HI, Just doing some thinking about what to do with my original fuel tank.  I like the idea of putting a restrictor on the neck to stop any backwash (whether a requirement or not for engineer) but don't really like the idea of using the sleeve join.  Was wondering if:

1. anyone has done a welded/solder on replacement neck

2. What type of replacement neck did you use

3. Has anyone used one of those neck insert parts

As usual, all comments and advice greatly appreciated. Cheers Ron

IMHO, its not the neck that it at fault, its something particular to the tank, or the way its vented, I say this as I cut the neck from my original tank and TIG'd it to my stainless drop tank and it has never spat back at me since, the breathers on the drop tank are very similar to the original, but without the internal piping.

You're probably right Mick.  I think the fact that it's a shallow tank and the neck is at the rear just makes it easier for the fuel to get out when you take off.  Cheers Ron
