bought a set of replacement tie rods and noticed there not the same as original

they look  like they will increase the rack width plus they have no preload

so now trying to find new ones that are the same as originals , anyone know where i can get some that offers shipping ?

Very long time ago I rebuilt my uc rack. As I remember you drill out a small dowel pin, loosen the nut and remove the cup and rod. The pre load is set when you install and adjust the ball/cup on the end of the rack.  Once adjusted and tightened you drill the correct size hole between the nut and cup and finish by driving in a new dowel pin.

UC are shorter than LH/LX

You need the right ones or you'll never dial out the tow out.

^ Thats exactly how I did my UC steering rack.

However if the new rods you have don't have any pre-load adjustment, maybe they're just suppose to tighten down all they

way without the lock nut in place.

Would that just about bring the rack width back down to where it should be?

Oops. Misread your post.

The problem I had with my rack after reconditioning was they used the wrong length tie rods but the proper UC ones while shorter, were also of the same "new improved" design without the preload.

I was told the old style aren't available but that might just be the opinion of the shop that did my rack.

Should have said (dammit edit wont work) that fuzzy is correct. I did up a rack for a mate that got his tie rods from resto spares. After a phone call it was delete the lock nut and do them up till they bottom on the threads. This was LC

new rack ends are 275mmm all up and are metric

have damage the thread on one end of the rack and still waiting for die so cant check properly

but going by some ruff measurements the new rack end will sit about where it is in the pic

if the thread length is the same at both ends of the rack
