Hi these are fuel tank screws removed from a one owner 1969 LC Torana "S" I have seen the phillips type screw heads on others ,does anyone have an early LC with the slotted heads around the fuel tank?maybe they changed to the Phillips head later on ?

Im thinking they must have changed them to the Phillips head which is correct for my car ,but those slotted type definitely came from a untouched LC 161 1969 "S"around the fuel tank.

What makes you think the tank has been untouched Paul..
because its a one owner?

Point taken,no guarantees it wasn't in a prang or something ,I just have a feeling very early LCs had this type.Like someone to check a early original LC .Not that it really matters just interested.

I doubt they would have messed around with slot head screws on the assembly line. Phillips drive are faster to work with.

It was common for panel shops to replace the lost original screws with slot head self tappers.

True.yeah I'm convinced now.Just goes to show you, even if the car looks 100% original and untouched ,things get changed over its lifetime and non original screws and bolts are used.Dam ,wasted my time getting those zinc plated didn't I ?

Hi Paul, those slotted screws look like your everyday hardware shop wood screw from the 70's.  Definitely don't look like a car part.

Yep ,believe it or not they came out of a one owner car that I wrecked about 10 years ago ,looked like they were factory ,seems the tank was removed at some point in time and the panel beater just grabbed anything .
