Me again.  Just wondering what the holes in the lower trailing arms are for?  I know 2 are for the sway bar mounts (won't be using them).  There is one larger one on each arm which I thought was for a fuel or brake line routing but can't remember. And then one arm has an extra hole and not sure what this is for.  There are also two small holes at the top which from memory are for mounting a brake line bracket.  Just want to double check before I refit them.  Thanks in advance.  Cheers Ron

The fuel & brake lines are mounted firmly on the body, wouldn't end very well if you put them on a moving trailing arm. Sway bar is the only thing mounted on them by memory.

Sorry, I should have said hose.  I'm pretty sure that a brake hose has a P clamp screwed to the top of one of the arms but could be mistaken.  I also thought a fuel hose went trough one of them but again could be mistaken.  Cheers Ron

Large hole would be hand brake cable

In the LC/LJ yes, they had the jacketed cable that ran through the trailing arm, but the LH/LX handbrake cable had a different layout, they were a bare cable that ran around the lower trailing arm mount to a bracket on the outer side.

At least I assume Ron is asking about the later models??

Yes Andrew. It's for the LX.  Trying to get the pic reduced so I can attach it.  I have this feeling the large hole is to run the brake hose through, that comes from the t piece on the diff to the bracket next to the upper trailing arm where the hard line starts.  I think it runs through there to keep it out of the way of the exhaust, but I may be completely wrong.  Cheers Ron

Brad, Your service manual looks better than the one I have but I have looked through both, and the parts catalogue, but can't see any references to the holes.  Cheers Ron
